Got an email from ATT that said a copyright owner had notified them that my internet connection had been used to download copywritten material. Specifically mentioned Season 7 Episode 6 of Gane of Thrones.

Anyone else ever ever gotten one of these?

What did you do?

Any ideas how to hide yourself a little better?

Just ignore em - scare tactics. If you want to avoid them, stop illegal downloading HBO as they usually have trackers. There are things you could do to get around it (I dunno the details).

You could always just pay for things and not steal but the internet does make it so easy...

This happened to me, just got the warning. It was my teenage son doing it. I already pay for all that shit, told my son to knock it off.

Get a VPN ... it will mask your IP. It's not really a scare tactic. You will get a few letters for warnings then they will blackball you.

Every ISP is different but in my experience they won't do anything.

Maybe if the situation keeps getting worse and worse they will crackdown but right now the big telecom companies don't really care as long as people are still cutting them a check every month.
