Well I decided to jump back into the forum after a weird and rough last year involving a separation, a cancer scare and then a surgery ?. It was a shitty 2016 but 2017 is much better and I'm hoping everyone is doing well. This will be my season picks thread, but none today. Just wanted to say hello to everyone in here and give my two cents on the PAC 12.

I think USC is being a bit overhyped with all the attrition on the roster and loss of starters. They also have a pretty tough schedule to work through. That's why I think UCLA comes out of the south; they return a lot on offense and Rosen at QB, so it should be a two team race in the south and a battle for LA. Colorado lost leavitt to Oregon and a lot of defensive guys, so I don't buy them. Same with Utah, too many lost starters.

The north looks like a crapshoot. People like Washington but defensively lost a lot and the back end of their schedule will be a huge test in my opinion. I think Stanford looks good on both sides and is so tough with their physicality, so I expect them to be in the race late for a shot at the PAC 12 tittle. However, I like wazoo to win the north this season. They've got a ton of returning starters on both sides and an explosive offense, surprisingly their defense has got better every year in terms of talent. I think they beat USC early and beat Washington in the apple cup. Oregon is a mystery, they return a ton of starters, number 3 in the rankings for returning production on both side seats of the ball; so that's huge, and taggert is a program builder/rebuilder with leavitt taking over the defense. I'm not sure what to expect, so I'll say 7-5 on the year but they are literally in every game except for one or two.

See you boys in a couple days for picks. God bless gentleman

Good to see you made it through a brutal stretch. Best of luck with your picks.

Not buying any team coached by Mora. Uw should be undefeated when they hit the tough part of their schedule. Your ducks will be interesting to watch. I think they have a ton of talent ready to take off. Stanford's qb situation has me doubting them a little.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Here are the picks

Louisville -26 : Bobby loves points and you've got to imagine he wants Lamar to win the heisman for recruiting purposes. No better way to do it than against an inept Purdue team with a New coach. Purdue should be be very bad on offense and is weak defensively, so I'll take Lamar and Bobby to won't by 34+.

Wyoming +12: Iowa just lost a safety to a knee injury in camp and that's after Desmond king departed to the NFL/graduation. Iowa has a phenomenal OLine but Wyoming has Josh Allen, one of the most underrated QBs with a ton of upside. I think Wyoming is a tough team under bohl and I think they "hang around" within the number. 23-13

tulsa/ok state Over 74: mason rudolph and James Washington could both legitimately be viewed as heisman contenders; the big 12 door is open in my opinion and gundy knows it. Ok state scores....a lot....Tulsa doesn't have a great defense but likes to run and gun too. I'd be surprised if this doesn't get to 50 points in the first half.

washington -30.5: Rutgers was 127th in the nation last year in scoring.... huskies are veryyyyyyyy good. Could be real bad, like 62-7 bad

Recap so far: Record (1-2) Louisville pending....

shocked that Washington was as flat as they were and Rutgers played as well as they did. I wouldn't panic yet, but if Washington doesn't protect browning again in weeks 2 & 3 they are screwed. That team will improve though, I'll give Rutgers some credit.

wyoming------- wow.... can't say I should expect to see good talent around Allen but holy hell his receivers dropped what seemed like eleventeen passes one of them for an easy TD. I know he threw costly picks but those were after they were down 18 and no one could catch any of the fastballs he was throwing. That guy has some serious upside and I'm a little disgruntled they didn't cover what I thought was a favorable spread. Oh well, I'm more worried about how Oregon handles him especially.

ok state game was what we all expected.

Louisville should fist Purdue...

taking a stab here at Willie making a statement...
adding oregon -32

2-3 on the season.

week 2 picks: still looking at the Oregon game

Uconn +18: my whole basis on this game is that USF is playing like shit under Charlie strong. Something isn't quite right, does anyone get the same feeling ??? UCONN loses by 10.

Louisville -10: I don't buy the hype just yet, but I buy Louisville with Jackson more than UNC right now.

minnesota +2: I'm a big pj fleck fan and the energy he brings. Oregon state will have troubles versus minny after nearly losing to fcs Portland state regardless of how good they are. Minny should win straight up.

Stanford +7: they're tough, it will be physical for sure. David Shaw has been game planning for this game all offseason. Either way, this looks like a 3point game to me.

Ohio state -7.5: I know I'm eating the hook here but I just can't see the young head coach beat urban Meyer with that vaunted defense in the shoe, not even with baker mayfield. This is the type of game that mayfield either hangs his hat on and burns you or is the gunslinger who throws 2-3 picks and Ohio state wins 37-24. I'll hope for the latter.

Nebraska/Oregon over 69: I don't think either team plays anything more than average or below average defense and autzen is a place where Oregon and other teams like to score points. It's a great home field advantage, but the defense hasn't been fixed and won't until 2018 or even 2019... the spread now is -10 and my mind says -7...so I'll stick with a lot of points being scored because neither defense will have steady effort. Ducks win 45-38

Great start on the over quack.

Leavitt is going to get the most out of the defense like he did in Boulder last season. Ducks could be a wildcard in PAC 12 title chase. If they weren't so recently removed from being a top program we would get great betting value on them every week. It appears oddsmakers gave Neb far too much credit heading into this game.

It appears I should have watched the 2nd half of game. Turned it on at 42-35 and thought I was hallucinating. What the hell happened?

5-5 on the season so far, pretty ho hum....

week 3 picks:

alabama -29: I know conference play starts week 4 but csu got torched by Colorado and doesn't look right at all. Alabama at home all day 45-10

ok state -15: it's a weird line to take but I just think ok state has all the components right now and they look poised to score 60+ every game. Pokes by 24

Air Force +24.5: best passing attack of the triple option military schools, adds a wrinkle that's tough to defend, even for Michigan. Triple option schools suck to prepare for, especially the week before conference play starts. It's old school assignment football and military schools are super disciplined; I expect Michigan to win a tough game by 17

army +30.5: same reason as above except the passing attack.... this is going more off the fact that the buckeyes are in a bit of disarray and Barrett's play has been awful. 30.5 pts is a lot to cover after getting beat and now having to protect your shins all game. Ohio state wins a game that's closer than it should be and skate by 38-20

Oregon -14: I was afraid of this game last year but not so much anymore, Wyoming is getting beat up defensively and Allens receivers are awful, and Brian hill is gone. Defenses are keying on the passing attack and spying Allen. Ducks should boat race Wyoming 52-28 and play a better second half. This would be my safest play of the week

clemson-3: louisvilles defense is pretty bad and clemsons defense is incredibly good. Jackson will get his plays and points but Clemson had 11 sacks last week.....ELEVEN.... Jackson can't do it all by himself every game. Clemson has a great rushing attack and the better coaching staff. Venables is prepped for this challenger and will have lamars head spinning I'm sure. I think Clemson wins this game comfortably 27-16
