LAS VEGAS - UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor held off on committing to a UFC return, but said he's got options for his future.

"I have many options in MMA,"McGregor told MMAjunkie at the press conference for "The Money Fight," which followed his 10th round TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. "I'm sure there's options that will present themselves in the boxing game. Right now, I'm a free agent. My name is on the ring."

A little loose from his eponymous whiskey, McGregor (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC, 0-1 boxing) spoke proudly of his effort against Mayweather (50-0 boxing) and his ability to get his name on the canvas as a promoter of the lucrative Showtime pay-per-view.
"I'll see what's next, but I'm open," McGregor said. "I love a good fight, and tonight was a damn good fight. I can't tell you exactly what's next, but something will be next."

UFC President Dana White hopes that something will take place in the octagon, where McGregor has yet to defend his lightweight title and never defended his previously held featherweight belt. In his wake, an interim lightweight title bout is scheduled for UFC 216 between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee, and contenders are chomping at the bit.

But more pressing on McGregor's mind is a little rest and relaxation to enjoy the fruits of his labor. Guaranteed $30 million for his loss to Mayweather - who takes home $100 million before bonuses - and a cut of pay-per-view profits, the fight already is the biggest paycheck of his career.

That's one possible reason McGregor might hold off on MMA to take another boxing fight, but nothing is for sure.

"The check is alright," he said. "The check's not bad. But I've already been raising the MMA checks. I'm still going to raise the MMA checks when I go back there."

The only sour notes for the Irish champ came from the fight's stoppage, which he said was a little early. And then there were the scorecards for the fight, where two of three judges had it eight rounds to one for Mayweather.

"I think that's very biased," McGregor said. "I'm actually shocked at that. I thought I won the first three rounds clearly. The fourth round could be argued either way. Let's say 3-1.

"He started to take over, and then I thought I snuck in Round 8. Then he won nine and got the stoppage in 10. So what's that, 5-4? But in reality, all that means nothing. He got the win.

"I would have liked to have seen the final bell. I think I deserved to see the final bell, but what can you do? You can say what you want, but I worked so hard for this. I worked my (expletive) ass off."

And now, he'll take a breather before deciding his next step. He's got options - and he's flush with cash.

The 3rd Diaz fight will be 1 of his next 2-3 moves, otherwise not really sure. Fighting Khabib in Russia would be a really big fight but he isn't 100% to make weight and McGregor isn't gonna risk him pulling out. He's just way too big of a star to deal with that shit now. Same reason he probably wouldn't want to fight Aldo again.

Winner of Ferguson/Lee is possible as well.

Not sure if the audience is there for him to box again. Atleast not until he goes back to UFC and wins a few fights.

That's where he belongs and even though he went almost 10 rounds last night, nothing warrants him to go back in the ring.

You made your Huge payday, now go back to where you came from.

Let's be real. Connor got at least 70 million for this boxing shit. What's he get for a UFC bout? Maybe 3 or 4 million if it's huge.

They could do a MayMac Part II and it'd generate at least 250 million, but a fraction of what they did before, and they both would still get paid. Money runs the world. For so many people and businesses that was an absolute cash cow.

You telling me Connor can't crack at least 15 - 20 million in some other fight? Maybe Canelo? This is basic math and Connor knows it. And he loves the big money.

That's like having a job for 60K/year and just on the other side of town they'll pay 350K/year for the same work. Honestly, I'd be surprised if he doesn't do another boxing match.

He's got so much money now I'm not sure why he would even bother risking more damage to his body.

He won't fight Kevin Lee even if he wins the belt. Too small of a name, so is Tony Fergunson.

Diaz is next IMO because he will get huge money and people that aren't die-hard MMA fans know both of those names. He will only do superfights moving forward moving up or down weight classes

Besides Diaz, there really are no other "names" at the weight classes he fights at.

So probably will have to fight the other top contenders if he wants to keep fighting in UFC. It will just be him getting 85-90% split in the purse if they aren't a big name. And maybe fighting him will make them a star, similar to what happened to Diaz.

Triple G would knock him out in the 1st round. He fought the only guy he could last 9 rounds with. A 39 year old who doesnt hit that hard .

UFC will pay him a lot to get back in the cage so probably not gonna hang it up anytime soon.

With Bones likely suspended, Rousey done, he is really the only big star they have. His fights get 5-7x the PPV buys that other cards do.

I had the under 9.5 rounds, thinking I lost just checked my account and it was graded a win! So if you had a under 9.5 ticket in Vegas hope you didn't throw it away. I guess the round had to go over 1:50 to count, that's the rule they had where mine was graded.

No, under 9.5 rounds is under 9 rounds and 1:30 into round 10. That's 9.5 rounds.

Under 1:50 would be Under 9 rounds and 1:50 into round 10.

For the over9.5 it had to go to the final half of round 10, so since it was boxing and 3min rounds, >90seconds (1:30).
