Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell plans to return to his team on September 1. That’s fine and dandy. But Bell just recently took to social media seemingly demanding $17 million annually from the Steelers.

Give Bell’s Snapchat video a listen to hear him mention the number 17

Bell also gave a shout-out to wide receiver Antonio Brown, and mentioned teammates Bud Dupree, Ryan Shazier and James Harrison in his tweet.

The fifth-year running back is demanding a huge raise. As he should considering his amazing accomplishments on the field. He is slated to play out 2017 under the franchise tender that will pay him $12.1 million.

Bell and the Steelers failed to come to an agreement on a contract that would have paid him slightly more than $12 million per year to lock him up long-term.

Bell has held out of the Steelers’ entire off-season program and throughout the preseason. The potential “17” that Bell is throwing out there is now higher than the reported $15 million he said he wanted earlier in August.

Things are complicated to say the least when it comes to an eventual solution.

Stay tuned.

Love Bell as a player

But this whole situation doesn't seem to bold well for the Steelers or for him this season. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him get hurt

Football is the one sport I support players not honoring their contracts, if only because the owners don't have to honor them

It's a high risk sport, careers are short, injuries mitigate your ability to earn AND owners can and do walk away from contracts. Players should get what they can while they can.

As for production, guys that hold out usually do disappoint

Of course the owners and the NFL are making a ton of money.
But when is enough going to be enough with these contracts??

Agree. Dude is revolutionizing the running back position. Guys that hold out aren't all running backs. He will have fresh legs and put up serious numbers. And probably will be the best running back this year by a landslide.

geez, honour your contract. Have a one on one with the owner if you feel you deserve an early raise. But to use social media? pathetic

Bottom line. He'll play for 12 mil this year or not at all. The Steelers can do the same thing
again next season. When the franchise tag runs out after next year he either signs long term or
play for another team.

How good is Bell? Better than most but not a great back. He's good for 20 maybe 30 yards on any
given play but he doesn't have break away speed like Elliott.

Early indications are he going to be like Terrell Owens, very productive but a pain in the ass.

I doubt Bell cares who he plays for and I doubt the Steelers care either. I remember when In 2009,
Santonio Holmes was at the peak of his career. The Super Bowl XLIII MVP followed that performance
with a career season. His 79-catch, 1,248-yard year seemed to firmly entrench him as the Pittsburgh
Steelers’ top target. Then he got traded to the Jets for a fifth-round pick.

I realize there is a short window to make money in the NFL but Bell needs to understand he hasn't
proven shit. He needs play a couple of seasons without getting suspended or injured before he gets
the kind of money he's looking for. It would also help if he showed up on time and wasn't a distraction.

Pay the man.....He`s Great!

he was offered guaranteed $30M over 2 years... so he's making less money than if he just signed to be the highest paid RB in nfl history. only so deep the pockets go for a guy that averages 12 games/yr and only once played more than 13

while the hold outs, injuries, and suspensions SHOULD hurt his free agent value, it won't. There's a sucker around every corner and someone will ante up the $17m he thinks he's worth. play a full season and maybe the steelers could then talk. until then, fuck him

looking forward to when he calls himself a slave at $12M ... it's coming, just waiting for it

But when is enough going to be enough with these contracts??

When teams can confidently identify men who can deliver equal or better on-field results while agreeing to lower salaries.

When there are only about 300-400 men in the entire world who can perform at the level of top 10 to 12 roster spots for an NFL team, it is not surprising they can ask for and receive the salaries they get

i want you nowhere near him and bryant. bell's next weed suspension will be a full season and bryant's next one might end his career. Barman, you can cut their lawns but that's as much grass you're allowed to be involved in with that duo
