Suppose 50 entrants have their picks in on Friday, and a DOS attack comes in on Saturday and no one else can get their picks in? We have to have some sort of rule that prepares us for this event. Do the 50 entrants have their picks and everyone else is screwed? It could happen as was proved tonight! Must have some sort of rule to allow for this happening!

I would think that if there was some sort of natural disaster or attack that made it impossible for many contestants to make picks, we could do one or two things

1) simply drop the week, no picks count

2) people who couldn't make picks have to make 1 extra pick in five different weeks

Let's hope those decisions don't have to be made. It's something like the 5th year for these contests, and we haven't had such a problem yet.

If necessary, I'm sure they'll come up with a reasonable solution

I think even a Better idea is to Bookmark the Picks Sheet for that week....
The Picks sheet is a Google Form and if you bookmark it, and something happens here at the RX, you can still make your picks.

That Sheet will be up once we get the lines from the Westgate, so Wednesday Night

Yeah I think they have an idea now what kind of volume we will be getting, and it only gets larger from here

An emergency email would work also. Post it now for all contestants to copy down. Their responsibility to submit on time if there is a DOS.

I think there should be for post up contests one of maybe Four choices all entrants choose at the start of the season. maybe in a dialoge box on week one picks or on sign up then its official. Its just a dummy disaster rules for a set of picks, at least you dont get a 0 situation.

you can choose. first 5 away teams, first five home teams, every other starting with away, or evey other starting with home based on the rotation. That way any week there is something bad or whatever you have 5 picks in . since there is no way to edit picks once in and "lock" something in this has always seemed fair to me for post up contests, free contests nah have to get it in.

(sort of the tiebreaker home team on monday night football" side rule in some survivor contests.

with this then there is no need for back up emails, bookmarks, if you cant manage to get in a pick for any reason , or any forum reason, you have your season set defined picks on the board. you dont just get an 0-5 or some make 10 picks next week.

( you can still have the normal fine print rule that the contest mods have the right to rule on anything not covered blah blah blah for some extreme situation)

Obviously too late for this year and probably never be added to a post up contest on any forum but I always liked my concept on that.

There are some good ideas here, but like you said Too late now...

Plus since we try our Best to Mirror the Westgate. with them, You either put your picks in yourself or have a Proxy put them in for you.
If they don't get in, then you are 0-5 for that week.
also this is our 6th Year doing this, and we never had a problem.

Right now I think the best way is to Bookmark the Google Pick Form.
Today is Tuesday, and JOH has already posted the sheet to Bookmark. Once opened Tonight, you will get all the lines and form to place your picks.
That Bookmark is Good through out the Season.

We don't have the NFL one ready yet, because this is the first week.
Once the first one is done, ( Wednesday Night ) you can bookmark it and it will Also be good for the whole season.

and for those that haven't seen it yet in the CFB Contest Picks and Standings Thread, or the Stand alone Thread down in the Contest forum.

Here's the links to Bookmark:

CFB Selection Form:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...start=openform

CFB Picks History Sheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...12&single=true

Will have NFL Form & Sheet next Wednesday.

Absolutely the way to go!

Bookmark these 2 links for the College Contest and you're fully covered.

Sending out PM's and emails is for the birds... a lot of times, I'll email someone for information and never get a response anyway. Why bother.

You'll get the NFL links tomorrow night.
