It would be a big feather for Golovkin to stick in his cap if he became the first guy to KO Canelo. It would likely increase the chances for Golovkin to get a rematch with Canelo. If Canelo wins, he’s likely going to move on if it’s a close win or if he takes a beating in the process of winning.
