Lived there all year around from 2007-2015....now I spend 4 months there every year....often called the Land of Smiles....people are caring to a fault...
Beautiful country with first class resorts and golf courses....

Th bar scene is a whole different story....here, you are the hunted.....you got to be smart about it....

The only downside of living here is that there is no gambling...and they are strict about it.....but Hong Kong and Macau are not far away...seen guys sent home and fined....you can play cards and board games but no money can be seen on the table...

Actually prostitution is illegal in Thailand....laws can contradict themselves....

But there are really only three things that are against the law....

Gambling
Underage sex
Drugs

Violate any of those three and you will spend a lot of time in prison....especially the last two.....

Only place I've been where I felt truly liked as an American, by the locals. And it was very genuine. My best memories as a Marine were on Cobra Gold.

Lived in Vegas when I got married in 1980....drove a beer truck and my daughter was born there in 1983...I met Frankie Mastarana and he got me on the ground floor of offshore gambling in 1987...was going through a divorce at the time and I moved to the Dominican Republic and got on the ground floor with CRIS...the rest is history....I have had a great life since those days...
