It was fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line and Giants coach Ben McAdoo decided to go for it with his team down by 10 points late in the third quarter of Monday's game against the Lions.

But time expired before the Giants could get the snap off and a delay of game penalty was called. The Giants settled for a field goal, the last points they would score in a 24-10 loss.

McAdoo was upset with quarterback Eli Manning, a 14-year veteran, four-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl MVP, and was openly critical of Manning after the game.

"Sloppy quarterback play. The quarterback and center need be on the same page there. We've got to get the ball snapped," McAdoo told reporters. "We have a veteran quarterback who's played a lot of football. I expect us to get the ball snapped.

"Usually the clock goes from 3, 2, 1, 0. Once it hits zero, they look at the ball, look at the clock, usually have a tick once it hits zero to get the ball snapped without it being a delay of game."

Manning was sacked five times and hit another eight times as the Lions harrassed him the entire game. He finished 22 of 32 for 239 yards with a touchdown and interception.

"I didn't like the interception," McAdoo said. "It happened fast for him. I thought he should've went to No. 2 or checked the ball down. He was under duress all night, thought he did some good things in the pocket, making some plays under duress, but the whole offense needs work."

The quality of head coaches in the NFC East is horrific. Garrett is complete bonehead, McAdoo is a moron, Pederson is clueless and Gruden is pedestrian at best. When Jay Gruden is the class of your division, there's a big problem.
