He's not even officially the head man in charge, but Derek Jeter is already making big-time decision for the Miami Marlins.

According to a report, Jeter has fired special assistants Andre Dawson, Tony Perez, (former manager) Jack MeKeon and Jeff Conine, the man known as Mr. Marlin.

Talk about a total shock.

@flasportsbuzz New exclusive: Marlins owner-to-be Jeter fires Mr. Marlin,McKeon &2 Hall of Famers.Wait until you hear how he did it http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article174950766.html …

The Jeter-led group agreed to buy the Marlins last month. He doesn't even fully own the team yet, but he's already making monster decisions.
Per the Miami Herald, Jeter asked team president David Samson to do the firings for him because Jeter didn't want to do it.
That's kind of a bad look for Jeter.

“Sure I’m sad,” McKeon told the Miami Herald. “No question you’re sad. I’m disappointed, but you understand. A new regime is coming in and they want their new people in there. You can’t fault them with that.”

There's no question the others fired are probably feeling the same.

After all these years, Derek Jeter finally got revenge on Jeff Conine for the 2003 World Series

It'll be interesting to see which other moves Jeter makes before next season. He's made it clear he's ready to mix things up.

It's a great business move. They are probably paying a bunch of Marlins legends to hang around. He cares about the bottom line.

Oh Lord, what qualifications does Jeter have to be in any sort of management position? It's like having Charles Barkley run an organization.

Management? He's going to be the owner. The only qualification I know to do that is to have lots of money.

Ownership is not management?

Magic Johnson was one of the best players, but as a coach, manager or owner he is shit.

I wonder if he is going to fire Mattingly...he is one of my favorite players. Not sure if he is a very good manager or not...but he hasn't had much success it seems. Poor guy also has no rings as a player as well.
