NFL Sunday ratings down amid kneeling protest

The NFL’s ratings took a knee Sunday night.

In the preliminary metered-market results, NBC Sports coverage of Sunday Night Football was down about 10 percent versus last year’s comparable matchup.

The Oakland Raiders vs. Washington Redskins game averaged an 11.6 rating, 20 share in metered-market households. That’s also down from the first two games of the season, last week’s Falcons vs. Packers game and Sept. 10’s Giants at Dallas game.

BUT the game was also a blowout. Viewership peaked during the second quarter and then dropped after Washington led 21-0 less than five minutes into third quarter.

The results come amid a day of sitting and kneeling protests by NFL players after President Trump’s attack on protesting players. But while one might easily assume fans switched off en masse because of all the controversy, these still-strong numbers plus the blowout factor don’t lend themselves to any clear conclusions.

One of best days of football honestly I have ever witnessed in my life of watching the NFL. Dead serious. Based on the games. Anybody boycotting is a fucking idiot, whichever side you are on.

Like I already said, very very few people are completely done with the NFL because of protests. Anything reported I wont believe. Anyone who says here they don't watch it, I won't believe. There are actual real reasons why people quit watching. Why do you think they don't fully go to commercial sometimes for the prime time games now? They implemented that so people don't have to change the channel. CTE scare is the biggest reason by far. The #1 reason. Common sense of life. Not some misleading ass numbers that say protests are the main reason.

You would think that this firestorm would have resulted in record ratings for Sunday Night Football, or at least a ratings boost. Unfortunately for the anti-American NFL, the exact opposite proved true with an 8 percent drop in viewership, compared to last week. This is a new season low.

Compared to this time last year, the ratings decline was in the double-digits, a full 10 percent.

This should come as no surprise. Fans are disgusted with the NFL, not only for politicizing the game they love but that league policies reveal a left-wing anti-American streak.

For years, fans have watched the NFL use the threat of fines and suspensions to shut down every form of self-expression. Players were not allowed to raise awareness for domestic violence or breast cancer; they were threatened if they dared suggest honoring slain police officers or even victims of the September 11 terror attacks.

However, the single exception the NFL offered was to allow these spoiled millionaires to go ahead and spit on the American flag and the anthem.

Even Americans who might not support Trump are baffled over the NFL’s hostility towards America, and are sick and tired of the politicization of absolutely everything.

The NFL used to be a place where all Americans could go, a shared cultural experience. Now professional football is just another leftwing institution, another place where bubbled rich people tell us how to think, another Hollywood, another once-beloved institution hostile to us normal people.

People are scared of change. And the people who are at the boiling point are ready. Those who are comfortable are not ready for change. To change your current quality life or the lifes of others around you, you have to be uncomfortable. That is the ONLY way. So if you are content and complacent with how things are in your life right now then of course you are going to be afraid of change just in general. Regarding anything. Ratings from Sunday are down huge. How does the NFL make most of its money? Television advertising dollars. If advertisers won't pay the NFL as much as they usually do, what happens? That's right, player salaries go down. These dumb fucks are only hurting themselves.

And they want change? Are they willing to take lower paychecks?
