trytrytry, your my new favorite poster. For at least the last 25 years when people have complained to me about minorities taking from the government like health care, food stamps, welfare ect. Not once in all those years as anyone mentioned farmers. i would ask them , why don't you mention farmers who have been taking large handouts for decades and decades. Farmers have been getting a sugar subsidy since 1934. Just the sugar subsidy has cost the taxpayers tens of billions.

The farm lobby in washington is one of the biggest if not the biggest. Farmers get tens of billions a year from taxpayers in the form of subsidies for crop insurance and other programs.

So after all these years reading a thread today about President Donald Trump Criticizes NFL Player Protests, Says Fans Should Exit Stadiums. Shub quote: Talk about stealing, half of our budget goes towards defense. You reply "and farmers". i bust out laughing. Finally after all these years someone talks about the ridiculous hand outs the farmers take from the taxpayers. Thanks triple T.

This is true. The government should just let the market dictate the supply and demand of farm production. Farmers need to be allowed to fail. Makes no sense paying subsidies and then to store grain in silos left to rot.

That reads like a "liberal gay moment epiphany". You two need a room or a barn, contact our chief farm correspondent BAS. BAS owns 53 farms in 22 different states.

The reason farming is given Subsidies is compete globally.

Also, when ethanol was getting its huge start some 10 years ago, farmers needed a subsidy for ethanol corn growth, or else they would plant other things that actually make them money.

i hope your joking with this. You think they were not making money growing corn before ethanol? Corn is the largest crop grown in the united states. The farm lobbyist got this ridiculous ethanol program started to get farmers even more money on the backs of the taxpayers.
This below from The Heritage Foundation:

Even by the standards of special interest-driven Washington, the ethanol industry gets an unusually sweet deal. Domestic ethanol, produced mostly from Midwestern corn, is the recipient of special tax breaks, a mandate, and trade protection.

Each gallon of ethanol that is blended with gasoline receives a 51-cent tax credit, along with other tax code inducements. Even with these tax breaks, corn ethanol remains more expensive than gasoline.
As if preferential tax treatment and a product mandate were not enough, the domestic ethanol industry also enjoys protectionist tariffs that keep it from having to compete with foreign providers. Foreign ethanol is subject to a 54-cents-per-gallon tariff and a 2.5 percent duty. This discourages imports, such as potentially cheaper sugar cane-based ethanol from Brazil and other countries, that could undercut domestic producers.

Typical cluster phuck with the federal government. Best thing you can do when you want to help is give money to legitimate organizations.
Terrible shooting at Sandy Hook school and people started sending teddy bears. They ended up with so many after giving them away to surrounding communities they had to be stored in a warehouse to this day. Even tho people's heart is in the right place areas like Houston and the like end up with an abundance of clothes and other items they can't use so generally it is best to give money. Doesn't make sense to send a truck full of water from Ohio. when water for the people of Houston. could get a truck of bottled water from a city 50 or 100 miles away.

There is a lot of businesses that receive subsidies in one form or another.

I dont believe the government should give any money to tax exempt companies. Thats a bigger problem with stealing for taxpayers
