The guy wasn't 100% and could have ended his career .

So why Start him ??

He probably felt fine in practice. Swelling had gone down. Then game activity had his injury flare up fast. If you got bad knees it's mostly about tendinitis and pain tolerance.

They held him out 2 weeks and even ruled him out on Thursday of the 2nd week so they were being cautious.
