On Friday, a very disturbing video emerged showing a Carolina Panthers fan sucker-punching another fan multiple times while in the stands, then leaving the scene.

The Panthers have released a statement on the matter, per David Newton of ESPN. The organization, working with police, has identified the man seen in the video punching the other man, and there will be severe consequences.

“We have reviewed video tape of the incident and have identified the perpetrator. We are working with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department to pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law. The Carolina Panthers are committed to a fan-friendly and family-friendly stadium experience. The behavior exhibited by the perpetrator is unacceptable and will not be condoned at Bank of America Stadium.”

According to the person who posted the video on Instagram, the man who punched the other fan had been standing up the entire game, along with a female companion of his. The people behind them complained about not being able to see throughout the contest and continued to complain as the game moved into the second half. Once a single mother and her son (who were sitting in the area) left the game, the situation escalated to the point where the vicious attack occurred.

The man who absorbed the blows never got violent in retaliation. He appeared to be trying to reason with the man, even after being repeatedly punched in the face, and others around the scene were clearly horrified at what took place.

The fact that the man who threw the punches has been identified and will be prosecuted is good news for everyone involved, minus himself.

no reason to stand at a game unless you have a standing room only ticket

When I was a kid at Dolphins game some asshole threw a beer and hit this big cuban guy. He turned around and climbed 3 rows and beat the shit out of a guy who was just there with his son and didn't do anything. It was pretty messed up.

Now that I think about it I've seen a few fights at football games. Nothing like testosterone and beer to get you riled up.

Agree...HaHa can you imagine going to a football game and waking up the next day as one of the most vilified people in America...I know it was not talked about here, only 5 or so replies, but just googling his name shows him as the devil himself...Social media and cell phones have changed the rules of the world...This guy will live with death threats and everything else you can imagine for a long time...

For a football game though.....kind of expect people to be standing. Especially in a close exciting game. Baseball, basketball I get. But football it's a rowdy sport. People get into it. Not everyone treats and watches it the same way. With that said, dudes a clown for hitting a 60 year old man

Every NFL game I have ever been too before I have seen at least 2-3 fights. But I have only been to Oakland & Chargers stadiums... maybe that's why.

Never take your family to a NFL game. I waited until my son turn 16 before he went. I felt uncomfortable with what was happening around us. The usual 3-5 fights and some fat chick grinding her boyfriend. This was in Buffalo.

Been to a dozen home Panther games and have seen a few incidents but nothing like this. Men can't even take their shirts off, rules are pretty tight. Lots of kids and pretty much a family atmosphere.

This guy was a punk ass who will never be allowed near BOA Stadium again. Security usually keeps an eye on situations like this and get involved before it gets out of control.

The 60 year old dude mouthed off to the wrong guy and got drilled. Act tough and yell at a punk kid and his girl you get drilled. If you're 60, 20, 50 whatever and you wanna act tough? Be ready to defend yourself at all times. Whenever I got into a confrontation like that I was fully prepared to throw down for better or for worse. That 60 year old dude should of gotten an attendant to deal with the punk and his girl waaaaaaay before it got to code red. Instead the 60 year old dude played the tough card and paid the price.

Agree, but he didn't deserve that shit. His nephew, son or whoever it was that threw his arm out should have knocked that punk out.

If it were me, and if I was with someone that got sucker punched like that, kid better have packed a lunch

Oh I hear you loud and clear, but people nowadays think they can't be touched and everyone is sane.....If you play that tough guy card you are going to run into a fella like that kid that doesn't give a shit who, what, or how old you are. I would of died in that stadium before I let that kid get away with that as well.
