With these highly ranked teams like Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State and now the Washington Huskies getting knocked down to size, I'm beginning to think they have a clear path to another National Championship. (Is Penn State for real ? They have to get past Ohio State in Columbus on the 28th of October)

No, Clemson or Ohio State can beat them. Hurts still learning the passing game and Bama d isn't as dominant this year. I'm not saying they suck but no doubt they can be beat. They lost 2 out of the last 3 years in playoff games to these teams

Not at all, they are overrated. The SEC has been down the last number of years & this year is no different.

No doubt the SEC is down this year; I would go so far as to say the conference is way down when you have "heavy weight" programs like Florida, Tennessee and LSU struggling to find respectability in and out of conference play (LSU losing to Troy State is one example) , but Alabama is still the team to beat come play-off time. We will soon find out....The season is half-over.

Bama and everyone else.

I agree Greenie! Solid depth talent at every position.

Hey, what about that little school down the road in Birmingham? After
defeating Middle Tennessee on Saturday, the Blazers are now 4-2 (5-1 ATS)
with 0-7 Charlotte on deck.

No doubt the sec is down but bama remains in a class by themselves. Doesn't guarantee they win every game, but they are in a class by themselves. The depth they have is unmatched.

Not one mention of Georgia here, hmmmmmmmmmm, that's damn interesting. They're on par with the Bama D, Georgia ranked #3, Bama #4 and yes, Bama gets 30 more ypg O. But I live in ACC/SEC'ville and have watched both play numerous games. They meet in the SEC finale, won't be more than a 3 pt game either way ya ask me.

Its funny how a lot of talk about Penn.st. , Ohio st. When Georgia in my mind is the second best team in the country ... I laugh at how everyone says the SEC is down 2 top 5 teams ... Yeah the second tier is a little weaker but the SEC is not weak..

Now weak is the Pac (whatever it is) all the talk about USC, UCLA how the heisman will go to one of their QB'S both teams are garbage.. Then they jump on Wash. And Wash.st. bam nothing to even talk about in that conference ..
ACC now that is a one horse show.. Clemson then who is next absolutely no one... Not a team that should be in the top 20... But hey Clemson couldn't even win as a q9 point favorite.. That's weak...

they have one ingredient that the others do not and that is NICK SABAN. imo the man is a lying pos BUT he has the intangible that cannot be quantified and that is he knows how to win, in the ncaa, under any cirumstances. the other pos, urban meyer, has the same quality but does not have the depth that saban has. bama can be beat but, on paper, they do look like the best. as a die hard gator fan, i can tell you that the big10, overall, is head and soulders above the sec this year and probably will be for the next few years.

You are right about the "depth chart" thing at Alabama; When players on the field of play (offensively and defensively) know if they mess-up there is someone who will take their place in a second they will give it their all on every play. Was it Ohio States' lack of quality depth that caused them to lose to Oklahoma ?

Answer to the topic is, Yes. Alabama is elite. Everyone else is looking up to them. They are probably a 7-10 pts better than the next best teams (OSU, Clemson)

I don't know guys. Being an Alabama fan I guess I judge them more harshly. I Can see them going agains a good throwing team and having problems. There pass rush is not like it was last year. They need to send extra guys to put pressure on the QB. Fortunately there is not one in the SEC this year. Maybe Fromm when he gets more starts. We will see. As usual a fun year in college football.

Georgia is for Real. Bama has already lost 3 starters for the year and have not skipped a beat. But they need to get Hand and Diggs back healthy and stay healthy the rest of the year. I’d rank Georgia #2 personally......

It's always good to get your input regarding Alabama and now Georgia along with the rest of the SEC, Red; What fascinates me the most is your keen insight and knowledge when it comes to handicapping NASCAR. How long have you been following race cars and their drivers ?

That's what the general opinion/spread the last two years in NC and of course I took Clemson and won both...but they had Watson. This year Clemson is too green a QB thus Bama has the advantage. So is Georgia, rookie QB.
If Ohio St makes it to the NC and Bama gives 7... I would take Ohio St and live with it.

i hated NASCAR when I was younger and would get pissed when we would come out of an Alabama game and the guys wanted to “watch the race”. Once I was locally able to wager on them, I began to study the strategies, practices, 10 lap averages, qualifying, guys that could race road well, short track well, races with restrictor plates, and those that couldn’t. Then I studied pit strategies and pit crews. It was addicting once I dove deep into how these guys win. History is important too....there are some guys that 8 times out of 10 just don’t race well in certain places. To just watch a race, it’s great Sunday sleeping noise. But dig into the above, and it’s insomnia.
