Brissett ruled out of bounds and short of the first down?

If the first down marker was the goal line, that's absolutely ruled a TD.

So the NFL has different out of bounds rules for the goal line as opposed to the field of play, that's fucked up

Is it? I think the ball has to cross the plane in bounds. Brissett reached over when the ball was not in bounds

This is correct. Broke the boundary plane short.

Why don't you take a night off from the internet, Mr 56,000 posts. Literally no one cares

Yet you follow me here and care to respond, classic

PS: I'm not going to waste my time interscting with an internet asshole, especially a troll and a ghost hiding behind some alias.

Hope you enjoyed the fleeting attention I just gave you.

Simmer is some strange ghost trying to mess with people's balls.

Back to the thread. Do you remember what they used to say? "Technically, what you need to imagine is that the goal line wraps all the way around the Earth so if the offensive player dive out of bounds and the ball crosses that line five feet from the pylon, then it's a touchdown."

Yet for non-scoring plays, the dude is out where the ball went out.

NFL rules were written by a bitter housewife.

Yeah that's the way it was

I did go out and read about the rule afterwards, they changed it two years ago. The goal line no longer "goes around the world".

But if the ball crosses the sidelines at the one yard line while the player is in the air out of bounds and the ball touches the pylon, they're calling it a TD every time

Wow, thanks for that. I didn't know about the change. So if doesn't touch pylon, no TD. But what if they dive out and reach back in; that is, their body is 3 feet out but he extends back and hits the pylon with the ball. Does that count? Or is it only upon leaving the field of play?

Also, one thing I never really thought about it is that the NFL has fucking guys sitting in a studio to explain a rule just in case. Can you imagine that for or other sports? lol. It doesn't really happen.

Society is so litigated that you have to have a fucking specialist from the back office chime in. 30 years ago people would've laughed at that.

Im just glad the Colts lost.

What a disaster of a season. Of course Brisset starts a couple games for Pats and look serviceable but any other team and he looks like a black qb. Typical

Never a Colts season in recent memory that there was no hope coming into season. Least in 2011, we knew we were getting Luck. Now they will manage to win enough games and end up with the 9th pick and get some overated pass rusher from the SEC.

Supposedly the ball is marked when the edge of the ball touches the sideline plain. Clearly that's not how I've seen it being called at the goal line. The ball could be over the sidelines and partially out of bounds, but if it touches the pylon it's always called a TD

this is incorrect I believe, that's where they come up with the towline extends around the world so to say so long as you are in bounds?

nvm. I see others responded

Not for nothing but Brissett's first responsibility was to get the first down. It was a fourth down, get it or go home play. He easily had that corner turned if he wanted that, but he took his sweet time looking down field for a receiver. Hell if he runs his ass off around that end he may have gotten a long way towards the goal line if not over. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
