This is a start to making a positive difference. Lets see how many other players follow and put their money where there mouth is. Or if they just continue with their "taking a knee" contributions to society.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long will be donating his final 10 game checks from the 2017 season to charitable causes. Combined with the six checks he gave to Charlottesville scholarship causes in the wake of white supremacist riots there, Long will play the entire 2017 season without pay.
Long announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he would be giving the 10 checks to charitable organizations in Philadelphia, Boston, and St. Louis “whose missions focus on making education easily accessible to underserved youth while also providing students the support they need to develop strong social and emotional character.”

Long is using the donations as a kickoff to his “Pledge 10 for Tomorrow” drive, and hopes his checks will be matched by pledges. (To donate, click here.)
“In my 10th year, I want to celebrate the awesome opportunity I’ve had to play football by giving back to the communities that have given me that gift,” Long said in a statement. “Educational opportunity and equity are the best gateway to a better tomorrow for everyone in America.”
Long has been one of the more outspoken players in the recent wave of NFL activism, supporting teammate Malcolm Jenkins in his protest and criticizing those who would try to slap the tired “stick to sports” label on him.
“If you listen to people who tell you to ‘Stick to sports,’ I would ask them, ‘Do you stick to whatever your occupation is?’ ” Long said in August. “People always want to hear from athletes when they agree with them. When we voice a [dissenting] opinion, they have an issue with it. I think that athletes are role models. We should think about what we’re saying, then speak. And speak wisely.”
Donating an entire season’s worth of checks seems a pretty wise way to demonstrate values.

"Speaking to NFL Network on Friday afternoon, the Seattle Seahawks defensive end reiterated his plan to donate all of the endorsement money he receives this upcoming season to charities supporting inner-city programs."

Wait, is that the same Michael Bennett that claimed the LVPD was racist against him and targeted him because he is black then, didn't apologize when the proof showed he was lying?

That Michael Bennett?

Yes. I am not defending him or that. It is not relevant to whether he is charitable. His donations have the same impact as mine or anyone else who chooses to give. No offense but you should probably stay out of this. I don't know if you have won argument in your 27,000 posts.

So basically you're saying he's ok because he donated some money but the other stuff we should just let go?

If Michael Bennett's donations have the same impact as yours or anyone else's donations, why are all of the politicians (except for Hillary) giving Harvey Weinstein's donations back? Why would they do that?

What does this have to do with what DNoonan was saying?

He cited a source showing Michael Bennett has donated money to inner-city programs (we don't know how much money).

Knowing what we know now about Bennett's character and propensity to facilitate false police reports based on lies, the inner-city programs should give the money back. Or, give the money to the LVPD.

His father is worth over 15 million dollars. That explains it

Haha

It is a generous thing to do, a great way to lead by example and something neither the kneelers nor BLM folk tend to do.

Of course having a wealthy family makes it an easy thing to do, which is the first thing I thought when I saw the story. My guess is Howie had something to do with this behind the scenes.

Having said that, the donation does NOT have to be your entire paycheck for a year. A generous donation of some cash but more importantly TIME will go a long ways. Help change the culture of poor inner city families, that's the best thing they can do for their cause.
