Erik Russell the former Southern head coach say's, "cheating costs money and they didn't have any". He was also the defensive coordinator at Georgia for 17 years. I guess they don't make coaches like him any more.

Erk (short for Erskine), not Erik. He may not have cheated down in Statesboro, but that's not true of the Dawgs when he was in Athens.

Also, there are ways to cheat without spending money. Ask UNC about their fake classes for athletes.

Keep in mind, when there are "fake classes", someone is getting paid to show those "fake classes"....

Are you suggesting that the "Dawgs" cheated when legendary Coach Vince Dooley was the helm (1964-88), the time Russell was in Athens (64-81). Say it isn't so.....

Erk Russell was not only a good coach, he was one hell of a motivator. While at Georgia,
he coined the phrase "Junkyard Dawgs" that is used even today to describe the defense.

He started football at Georgia Southern and won three 1-AA national championships. They
don't make them like Erk these days.
