This rarely works out for the team that gets the QB. Rob Johnson and Scott Mitchell come to mind. A QB that has some success as a starter for a few games but was never really proven or considered to be a top talent at the position and everyone gets hyped on him only to be traded to a different team. He now has different coaches new players and a different system. They usually turn out to be nothing

How about they don't have one. But I'm sure they have someone ready to add. They're on bye. So there is time to get that done.

As a Pats fan I'm a bit disappointed to see Jimmy G go for a second rounder only.

Not much of a deal for the Pats trading a 2nd for a 2nd (but I guess they'll have the top pick in the 2nd round). Not surprising, but since they dumped Brisset earlier in the year it seems they would have had some sort of plan. I'm surprised they didn't get more out of it (a 2nd plus a 5th or 6th round pick).

I wouldn't have done this until the end of the year.. Brady gets hurt , that would end their season

Word is Brian Hoyer to the Pats...Not confirmed though.

Adam Schefter mentioned it at the half

I don’t disagree with your thought process, but Johnson was like a fourth or fifth round pick and was traded for a top ten pick plus, I don’t believe Mitchell was ever traded, but Brad Johnson seems to fit after Minnesota fleeced Washington for him years ago. In this case Garoppolo was much higher prospect traded at an equivalent level to where he was drafted at, or at least close enough.

The Patriots don't want first round picks, they want too much money :)

2nd rounder from the 9ers is gonna be around 33-34th.

Pats first round pick is usually 28-32nd.

And it would've been tough to get more for him when he is gonna be a FA in a few months. You could tag and trade him but who knows if someone is willing to give a 2nd rd pick then. SF could move on to another apple of their eye by then (Cousins)

So will Jimmy join the others and protest

Guess he could protest getting traded to one of the worst teams

So if he completely flops in San Fran, can we finally start to acknowledge Tom Brady is overated.

Matt Cassel, Jimmy G, and even dumbass Brissett have all looked good in New England only to look like shit once they leave.

And if all it took was a second rounder, why werent more teams gunning for that. Should end up being the 33rd pick in draft. Usually a second rounder, you are just hoping for someone that can start and fill a role.
