https://www.yahoo.com/news/james-com...095517155.html James Comey goads Trump on Twitter after charges in Russiaprobe

Jon Sharman,The Independent 16 hours agoJames Comey has trolled Donald Trump on Twitter after the President’s former campaign manager was charged with conspiracy against the United States.
On Monday, Paul Manafort and former business partner Rick Gates ended the day under house arrest on charges that they funnelled payments through foreign companies and bank accounts as part of their private political work in Ukraine.
George Papadopoulos, also a former campaign adviser, faced further questioning and then sentencing in the first — and so far only — criminal case that links the Trump election effort to the Kremlin.
As Robert Mueller struck his first public blow in the probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, Mr Comey used his semi-pseudonymous Twitter account to troll the President.
“Man’s capacity for justice makes democracy possible, but man’s inclination to injustice makes democracy necessary,” he wrote, quoting the American public theologian Reinhold Niebuhr.
Mr Manafort and Mr Gates, who pleaded not guilty in federal court, are not charged with any wrongdoing as part of the Trump campaign, and the president immediately sought to distance himself from the allegations.

He said on Twitter that the alleged crimes occurred “years ago,” and insisted anew there was “NO COLLUSION” between his campaign and Russia.
Mr Comey’s Twitter account, named for the religious thinker who died in 1971, was uncovered earlier this year by Gizmodo journalist Ashley Feinberg.
The FBI director, who was later fired by Mr Trump, responded that he was “not even mad” about the sleuthing feat and even posted a link to the bureau’s jobs site as congratulations.

Since you are sure Trump will be impeached for collusion or face criminal "Collusion" charges..... Lets make a wager.

Carter Page, a former Trump adviser whom many have speculated could be among those next to face possible federal charges, has said he had “zero” concerns about the threat of action and believes Robert Mueller will prove there was no collusion between the campaign and Russia.

Speaking a day after Mr Mueller, the Special Prosecutor, revealed criminal indictments against three former Trump campaignassociates - campaign manager Paul Manafort, Mr Manafort’s deputy, Rick Gates, and foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos - Mr Carter said: “I have nothing to fear.”

Michael Caputo, another former adviser to President Trump’s campaign called Mr Papadopoulos “the coffee boy” and “had nothing to do with the campaign.”

“I mean, you might have called him a foreign policy analyst,” Mr Caputo told CNN’s New Day.

“But in fact, you know, if he was going to wear a wire, all we’d know now is whether he prefers a caramel macchiato over a regular American coffee in conversations with his barista,” he added.

Meanwhile, in Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said he saw nothing wrong with Mr Papadopoulos reaching out to a Kremlin-linked think tank.

The Russian International Relations Council has confirmed contact with Mr Papadopoulos, but said a meeting never took place. The council insisted that it was an independent advisory body and that it hosted many politicians at various public meetings, according to the Associated Press.

Mr Lavrov said he was getting bored by the story. “I’m already quite sceptical and losing interest in the news coming out of these investigations,” he told reporters.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s pugnacious press officer, Maria Zakharova, criticised apparent inaccuracies in Mr Mueller’s investigation. The initial report referred to Yulia Tymoshenko as former president of Ukraine when, in fact, she was prime minister from 2007-2010.

According to Ms Zakharova, the error demonstrated the report had been thrown together at the last moment.“You understand that serious investigations don’t contain this type of thing,” she said.

"The "The swirl of revelations over the last few weeks has produced the following:For the Russiagate conspiracy theory:

two indictments neither of which refer to collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, one of which is concerned not with Russia but with Ukraine, the other of which is against a Walter Mitty character (Papadopoulos) because he lied to the FBI, and a mass of claims about a Russian influence campaign on YouTube and social media which essentially amount to nothing.

    Against the Russiagate conspiracy theory:

confirmation that both the foundation documents of the Russiagate conspiracy theory – the CrowdStrike report into the alleged Russian hacking and the Trump Dossier – were paid for by the DNC and in the case of the Trump Dossier also by the Hillary Clinton campaign.

The sum total of what has come out of the Manafort and Papadopoulos indictments can be summed up quickly: nothing at all."

Consumer confidence hits highest level since December 2000

    • Consumer confidence rose to 125.9 in October, according to the Conference Board.

    • The rating is at the highest level since December 2000.
    • This accounts for Americans' views of current economic conditions and their expectations for the next six months.

President Donald Trump's goal of 3 percent growth has been realized in two of the three quarters since he took office, and economists say the trend can keep going for at least another quarter and possibly longer.

Third-quarter GDP grew by 3 percent, well above the 2.5 percent expected by economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters and below the 2.8 percent in the CNBC/Moody's Rapid Update.

The third-quarter number comes on top of 3.1 percent growth in the second quarter, making for the best back-to-back quarters since 2014 and ending a long streak of sluggish 2 percent growth

Consumers were even more optimistic in October than economists polled by Reuters expected.

Consumer confidence rose to 125.9 in October, according to the Conference Board.

The index "increased to its highest level in almost 17 years," Lynn Franco, Director of Economic Indicators at The Conference Board, said in a statement. That was in December 2000, when the index hit 128.6.

The surge in confidence comes at a time when U.S. share prices have hit record highs. Stocks have been lifted by strong economic growth, a surge in corporate earnings and increasing expectations of tax reform. On Tuesday, stocks traded slightly higher, near all-time highs.
