VT's schedule ranks 76th one spot ahead of Minnesota at 77th the lowest of the power 5. Miami schedule ranks 44th by comparison, neither very good.
Miami’s 17 completions this season of 30 yards or more rank second in the ACC to Wake Forest’s 19. Bud Foster tends to under perform in games when teams hit deep balls. Throw in the fact VT is not sacking QB's very often this year
The Hurricanes average a stout 5.2 yards per rush, but only 3.8 in the three games since losing Mark Walton, the ACC’s best running back, to season-ending ankle surgery. Miami will average less then 3.8 vs Bud Foster.
Miami is fourth nationally in sacks per game at 3.4, sixth in turnover margin at plus-1.4 per game. Virginia Tech ranks second in scoring defense (11.5 points per game) and opponents’ completion percentage (44.9) and third in third-down defense (24.0 percent).
Vegas priced Miami at -3 to open the public rushed into VT. Miami now getting points +2 1/2
I found these stats for Rosier and Jackson. Identical, yet VT has played a much softer schedule
Rosier: 143-252 2071 yds 17 TDs 4 INTs. 12 sacks
Jackson: 149-239 2032 yds 17 TDs 4 INTs 12 sacks
Both have been sacked 12 times, both have a 17/4 TD/INT ratio. Jackson does have a slightly better completion percentage and YPA.
Heck, even running they're quite similar...
Rosier: 69 att 211 yds 2 TDs
Jackson: 67 att 193 yds 2 TDs.
