This crazy statistic predicts that the Saints will win the Super Bowl

The New Orleans Saints aren't supposed to be good. Three consecutive seasons posting 7-9 records and years of horrific defense were bad enough, then they went and traded away their best young receiver during the offseason. When they started 0-2, nobody was surprised.

Now they're improbably the best team in the NFC South, and according to one statistic, they're about as dangerous a 6-2 team as there has ever been.

.@Saints are the 3rd team in the Super Bowl era to win 6 straight following an 0-2 start. The other 2('93 Cowboys, '07 Giants) won the SB.

It turns out they might've known what they were doing when they sent Brandin Cooks off to New England. The Saints used the first-round pick they got from the Patriots to draft Ryan Ramczyk, their starting right tackle who's been their most effective player on the offensive line across the season thus far.

They nabbed Marshon Lattimore at No. 11 overall, which could turn out to be one of their better draft picks ever. He's the best rookie cornerback in recent memory and one of the best at the position in the NFL right now. Then there's third-round pick Alvin Kamara, who already has five touchdowns this season.

That's all not to mention the fact that they have a deceptively good defensive line, anchored by their elite defensive end, Cameron Jordan - AND ALSO DREW BREES. Tom Brady gets all the love these days because he's the one winning Super Bowls, but Brees also continues to play like he's 10 years younger than he is.
The 38-year-old is completing more than 70% of his passes and has a passer rating of 101.7, and for the first time in a very long time, he has a solid running game to help him out.

The Saints started the season with 80-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl. Now they are the consensus best team in their division with a future Hall of Fame QB at the helm - and they're only getting better with every week that passes. Obviously they'd have to beat some pretty impressive teams, including the Eagles and the Rams, just to make it to the Super Bowl.

The again, that's exactly what the Giants did in 2011- and the teams they had to beat were arguably better than the ones the Saints could face down they line. The Giants stunned the 15-1 Green Bay Packers led by a red hot Aaron Rodgers, then went on to win a grueling battle with the 49ers in overtime of the NFC Championship game before beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

So yeah, it seems a bit far-fetched that the Saints could go on to win the Super Bowl this season - but crazier things have quite literally already happened.

The saints have never had a corner back like lattimore in franchise history.
he is already the best corner in saints history right now .

And I believe he is the best corner in the nfl right this second.

Kamara has the chance to be the best running back in saints history .

this draft was unbelievable .

We have 5 quality starters in this years draft.

This is the best D in the Sean Payton era.

Better then the 09 team .

Offsense not quite as powerful .

Still miss J Graham a lot .

Cooks would be nice to have have but Ginn is doing a pretty decent job in that role

We will see how good the saints D is when they aren't playing against an injured Jameis Winston or a back up QB with green bay

They did hold Carolina to 13 in Carolina. And followed that up by shutting out Miami in London. Two signs of a very good D.

Had 3 defensive TD's on the Lions at home.

Defense can change a lot faster than offense in the NFL. Few good draft picks, few guys improve, change in scheme and you're right there.

Tampa got put in a Kamara lock as well. If anyone knows an editor at the newspapers, they can use that.
