Democrat Ralph Northam Wins Virginia Governor Race, NBC News Projects

by Alex Seitz-Wald

FAIRFAX, Va. — Democrat Ralph Northam defeated Republican Ed Gillespie in the Virginia governor race on Tuesday, according to an NBC News projection.
With 65 percent of the vote in, Northam had 51 percent and Gillespie trailed with 48 percent.
Both national parties have spent millions of dollars in Virginia and are closely watching it as the first major barometer of the political climate since Donald Trump's unexpected victory last year.
Northam, an Army veteran and pediatric neurologist who serves as the state’s lieutenant governor, struggled to capitalize on his ad-ready biography as the race descended into a nasty culture war. Popular Democrat Gov. Terry McAuliffe is term-limited.
Gillespie is a former lobbyist and Republican National Committee chairman who seemed surprisingly adept at navigating the troubled waters of the Trump-era GOP, with a message aimed at the president's voters and a biography that has helped keep establishment Republicans on board.
After nearly losing in the primary to a Trump-like far-right candidate, Gillespie pivoted from tax cuts to cultural issues as the centerpiece of his campaign, with an ad defending Confederate monuments and others attacking Northam for allegedly being soft on Latino gangs and pedophiles.
In New Jersey, Democrat Phil Murphy bested Republican Kim Guadagno in the governor's race on Tuesday, according to an NBC News Projection — letting the door hit Gov. Chris Christie on his way out of office as one of the least popular governors in the country.
Both parties expected Murphy, a former Goldman Sachs executive and Obama-era ambassador to Germany, to prevail, largely because Christie's anemic 14 percent approval rating dragged down Guadagno, his lieutenant governor.
Guadagno struggled throughout the campaign to escape Christie's shadow, along with lingering questions about the Bridgegate scandal, although she saw some positive movement in recent polls after adopting a sharper tone on immigration that echoed President Donald Trump.
Murphy's victory gives Democrats complete control of New Jersey government, where Christie often battled with the opposition-controlled state Legislature. That makes the state one of just seven nationwide where Democrats now control the governor's mansion and both chambers of the legislature, compared to a whopping 26 for Republicans.

No, of COURSE you're not worried, now that they've lost it. Sour grapes much? Mind yer own goddamn business and stick to how the Brits are left with their collective dicks in their hands after Brexit, lol...

Forced from office? How much would you like to wager, Mr. Magoo?

Yeah, the thought of Virginia holding on to a blue seat they already had when they were running against a RINO is just terrifying. Only about 1,000 more election wins to go before you repair the damage from the Stuttering Clusterfuck’s Midas touch!

You and that British boob are gullible nitwits:

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/14/politics/virginia-governor-race-ed-gillespie-ralph-northam/index.html

In fact, when Trump tweeted his support for Gillespie earlier this month, neither the candidate nor his campaign acknowledged the President's support until they were asked about it by reporters. Meanwhile, his opponent, Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, not only retweeted Trump's tweet, he used it as an opportunity to fundraise for his campaign. (Trump backed Gillespie on Twitter again late Saturday afternoon, after this story was first published, and the candidate's account retweeted him.)

You were saying, asshole??????^^:)kth)(&^Loser!@#0Slapping-silly90)):bigfingerazzkick(&^

The Democrats’ electoral validation, though, took place well beyond the Virginia governor’s race: They wrested the governorship of New Jersey away from Republicans, swept two other statewide offices in Virginia, made gains in the Virginia State Legislature, and won a contested mayoral race in New Hampshire.
In New Jersey, Philip D. Murphy, a former Goldman Sachs executive, won the governorship, according to The Associated Press, by a vast margin that brought an unceremonious end to Gov. Chris Christie’s tumultuous tenure.
In both Virginia and New Jersey, voters rebuffed a wave of provocative ads linking immigration and crime, hinting at the limitations of hard-edge tactics in the sort of affluent and heavily suburban states that are pivotal in next year’s midterm elections.

Plus, this is another race where Twittler backed one of two candidates, and his guy went down to humiliating defeat, the other being the primary in Alabama, of all places.

Heres all I need to know about the elections last night.

1. the republicans held something like a 64-36 edge in the Virginia house of delegates, some races are to close to call but it looks like after last night it may be a tie or even a slight dem edge.
2. A tansgender candidate beat a 26 year, 13 time elected republican that literally wrote the states trans bathroom bill. HAHA

For 8 years, the criminal corrupt colluding media never called any losses a repudiation of Obama and the democrats. They even blamed Scott Brown winning a democratic legacy seat on a "bad democratic candidate" when it was all about trying to stop Obamacare.

They win three elections in two true blue states and one turning blue state and baddafucking bing, it's about Trump

There is not a bigger collection of assholes and idiots in this country then the libtarded criminal corrupt colluding lying democratic media. Literally a left-wing propaganda machine, nothing more and nothing less

VA is morphing blue because of growth in the federal government. What a surprise, everyone that works in government and benefits from aberrant compensation and benefits of being a "public servant" votes democratic.

Shocking, eh?
