Vt had a 17 hour trip back from Miami last week. It was a late game the team slept on the airplane due to weather delay. Sunday prep day for GT was shot not to mention no one slept.

GT is never an easy game for the Hokies. Bud Fosters defense has struggled at times defending that option. In years past he attacked the guard/tackle gap with the 6'3 235 lb safety Kam Chancellor. That was effective in getting penetration and screwing up the the pitch timing resulting in 2-3 turnovers. He also stacked the guard center gaps with NG's who simply nose dived the gap stopping the fullback dive. Even with all this special scheming the games were always tight 3-7 points. last year I thought Fuente with a decent productive offense would hang 30-40 on GT putting them in the hole early. Since Beamer never had an offense I thought all those tight games would change with Fuente scoring points.

Well something happened last year in Blacksburg. Bud foster could not stop the option and Fuente could not get enough offensive series to score more then 20. GT laid a bad beat on VT in Blacksburg last year. 30-20 and it wasn't that close.

This year the game is in Atlanta and I think PJ has the best team he's had in 5 years. Yes they lost to UVA in a shootout last weekend but VT lost the coastal in prime time at Miami which was devastating.

I am certain a lot of very stringent and brutal coaching has been going on in Blacksburg this week. They will beat any idea of self pity out of these players that you can be sure of. I think the Hokies show up with a chip and find a way to slow the option down and get up early on GT. However if GT jumps out to a 14-0 lead early look out. I thought Josh Jackson played well vs Miami. GT's defense will give up rushing yards this week opening the passing game up a little. Having said that this game will be very close with a FG deciding it on the last play.

If things go GT's way they can strangle the life out of a team leaving the Hokies with less then 10 possessions. I'd look for Foster to attack the guard center gaps and attack the Guard/Tackle gap with a 6'5 235 LB Tremain Edmonds. PJ knows this let see if he has an answer.

This is a coastal match up and GT is playing for a bowl game. VT is in a bowl they are playing because the coaches are making them And they are not asking nicely.

I will decide on Friday if Im playing this game.
