Ex-Florida Democratic Rep. Corrine Brown sentenced for mail, wire and tax fraud involving sham charity

Former Florida Democratic Congresswoman Corrine Brown was sentenced on Monday to five years in prison for mail, wire and tax fraud involving a sham charity.

A jury convicted Brown of stealing money from a bogus charity, One Door For Education, which purported to give scholarships to poor children.

Federal prosecutors said she ran for office as a leader of democracy while stealing money and working to cover it up. Prosecutors said she and a top aide commited fraud by using donations for lavish parties and trips.

The aide and another official accepted a plea deal and testified against Brown, who served in Congress for nearly 25 years.

So, according to your logic, for sexual assault to have occurred there needs to be either a conviction or a settlement?

I believe that he did commit them, and he should go thru the process of clearing his name if he isnt guilty, but there still is doubt, because there is literally no evidence and there hasn't been any conviction.

Does that mean I am going to slander him and call him a pedophile? No... it hasnt been proven he is one

A Sacramento lobbyist broke her silence Monday, naming the lawmaker she said cornered her in a bathroom last year and masturbated in front of her.

In a press conference with her lawyer in Sacramento, Pamela Lopez accused Assemblyman Matt Dababneh, D- Woodland Hills (Los Angeles County), of pushing his way into a bathroom with her last year and trying to get her to touch his exposed genitals.

Lopez initially declined to name the lawmaker, but she said Monday that leaders in the Assembly have assured her and other victims that their allegations will be taken seriously.

“There is strength in numbers and I want women to know that you can lawyer up and there are good people who will represent you and protect you,” Lopez said. “I’m putting this in the hands of the Legislature. Matt Dababneh has abused his power.”

And to be clear on your stance, in order for there to be sexual assault, a conviction or settlement has to have occurred?

Has to be somehow proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Where being found guilty in court, or agreeing to a settlement would thereby be a conviction or admission of wrongdoing.

Just because someone is accused doesnt mean they are guilty if there is literally no evidence to back it up. You know, pesky laws and things...
