Who will Nebraska hire after Riley is fired?

The most popular candidate is UCF's Scott Frost who played QB at Nebraska and led the Huskers to
the 1997 national championship. The 42 year old Frost has Central Florida 9-0 in his second year
with the school. Frost makes $2.0 million with the Knights and a buyout of $3 million clearly making
a move to another school tempting for both parties. Riley made $2.8 million this season at Nebraska.
Florida could double his salary with ease if serious about hiring Frost as some have reported.

I've heard rumors Frost is not interested in the Nebraska job knowing the football program is a mess
and would take years to turnaround.

Hopefully the Iowa State coach.

(i'm also a UCF fan so hope Frost stays in Orlando)

Huge buyout.

(You should officially start getting nervous. If the rumor is true that Neb has approached UCF, that means the backchannel talks were tsken with interest)

Very nervous. Frost to Nebraska makes sense but i wonder if he could get the "fast" recruits to come to Nebraska to run his offense

Great coach that would win. Not the greatest cultural fit.

Yeah RLR...Nebraska not a good fit for Leach.

I thought South Carolina should have approached Leach before hiring Muschamp. Ole Miss is missing
the boat if they don't explore this guy in my humble opinion. He would make things exciting for sure!

Could he win at Florida....damn right he could.

Why couldn't he? They recruited well enough at Oregon.

With oregon, you can recruit west coast kids and they are run by nike.

At UCF, you can recruit Florida kids with speed.

What can you recruit at Nebraska? They have always been known for size and strength. Seems like ever since Nebraska left the Big 12, they havent gotten the speedy kids from Texas and Nebraska

I hate this stuff, though, I bet Frost gets a good power conference job and then does not coach the UCF bowl game. There will be 7-8 of these this year and it sucks.

Exactly.
Same with Missouri.
Recruits from Texas wanted to go to Missouri and Nebraska to play in the center of the country in front of friends and family with all those teams (Texas, TT, Baylor, A&M before they left).
Now, what kid from Texas wants to go to Missouri or Nebraska?
And, in Missouri's case, what kids from the SEC geography (FLA, Alabama, Georgia, et al) want to go to all the way to Missouri to play?

I said the same thing when they hired him. Terrible hire.

I think Nebraska could recruit well enough w/ Frost as the coach to compete for a B10 title....most years. For Nebraska, the key is finding the right skill players (especially QB). In college football, a dynamic QB can make all the difference....and missing on a QB can set a team back 2, 3, 4 or more years. Frost can flat out coach and spent a lot of time learning a great system that he's put on display at UCF (with a 5'11 180lb QB).

I think he feels the pressure and takes the Nebraska job. There is no doubt he's there #1 candidate. I think he's UF's #1 as well, but the Chip Kelly rumors are all over the place.

Nebraska and Florida can't afford to fuck up this hiring. Both programs have been irrelevant for a while (UF is going on 8+ years and Nebraska is going on 20?)....

I agree with Frost, at least they were competitive with Bo and had a fight inside of them. What they are doing on the field is unacceptable for any program. Riley might be a nice guy but he has proven he is not the guy you want if winning matters. I think UF wants Kelly but he brings baggage, not sure he is the right guy there. Also, I wonder is Kelly has it in him to try and go head to head with the big boys in the SEC? I could see him landing out west somewhere.

There will be so many openings in the SEC at they end of the year I cant imagine how they will fill all the openings with quality guys. I still like Charlie Strong and don't think he got a fair shake in Texas. He would be good at UF i think.

I think both Florida and Nebraska had a higher-up that decimated the football program. I don't follow Gator football but I hear "Foley" is a dirty word. In Nebraska it's "Perlman". He hired the hitmen to get rid of Solich and Pelini, and duped Osborne to boot. I feel for Pelini because he coached two years with an executioner behind him, but the truth with Pelini is he didnt like recruiting and he was a madman. Plus his SOS was bad, so the record is inflated. Riley came in under an Alvarez-disciple. He tried the same playbook: "AD sets the culture, coach falls in line." Except his dumb ass hasnt 1/100 of Alvarez's acumen, and the NU culture has been rotting from within. Whatever is left of the Perlman dead rot needs to be cut out. I think Frost wants to go home, but he knows too much. He wont go back unless he in 100% in control.

I think Kelly is coming to UF. There's been a lot of vetting (on both sides) going on. I'm sure the UF admin has done it's homework on this. They don't want Strong because he's a defensive minded coach. Florida wants offense and they are going after offense, period.

There will probably be 5 SEC jobs (UF, Tenn, Ole Miss....and probably Arkansas and A&M). I'm not sure who UT gets (they're crying for Gruden). A&M could go after Frost....but could get Morris at SMU or possibly Jimbo Fisher at FSU. Arkansas has to have Mike Norvell at Memphis as their top candidate (he played at Central Arkansas)....he's also a Tenn candidate. Ole Miss could offer the job the the interim.
