how exactly does a DEC 1 season long compete versus a JAN 1 season long?
They are just different starting points. Some may not want to grind thru this for 3 months so there's a 2 month option.
Note the min & max number of plays to qualify. Entering for all 3 months means you only need to submit 50 plays per month. Entering in Jan means you must submit 75 plays each month to qualify for the Full Season prizes.

The monthly contests are reset at the start of each month. The Full season records do not.
do the Dec plays count for season long at all if new people join?
Yes. All plays count from Dec 1 - Feb 28 toward the Full Season records. If you enter for Jan 1, no picks are allowed prior to that date.
I know its in here someplace but are multiple entries allowed?
I didn't address that aspect but yes, we will allow max 2 entries. Use #1 and #2 after name.
