(Rolling Stone): In 1973, Malcolm recruited Angus to form a new band, which the brothers named after the "AC/DC" electrical current marker they spotted on their sister's sewing machine. After a few lineup changes, the Young brothers were introduced to singer Bon Scott by their brother George, who would serve as AC/DC's producer on their early albums.

Malcolm Young, like his older brother George and younger brother Angus, was born in Glasgow, Scotland before the whole Young family emigrated to Sydney, Australia in the early Sixties.

Malcolm and Angus' first brush with rock stardom came courtesy of their brother George, who found global fame thanks to his band the Easybeats and their song "Friday on My Mind." Although Malcolm's two older brothers found success in the music industry, their father still made Malcolm work as a mechanic in a bra factory after leaving school at 15.

"I've never felt like a pop star – this is a nine-to-five sort of gig," Malcolm told Rolling Stone in 2008. "It comes from working in the factories, that world. You don't forget it."

George Young passed away last month, in October, at the age of 70.

Family Statement, from acdc.com

"It is with deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of Malcolm Young, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Malcolm had been suffering from Dementia for several years and passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside."

Renowned for his musical prowess Malcolm was a songwriter, guitarist, performer, producer and visionary who inspired many. From the outset, he knew what he wanted to achieve and, along with his younger brother, took to the world stage giving their all at every show. Nothing less would do for their fans.

Malcolm is survived by his loving wife O'Linda, children Cara and Ross, son-in-law Josh, three grandchildren, sister and brother.

While thanking all for their overwhelming support and heartfelt condolences, the family ask that you respect their privacy during this time of heartbreak and grief.

For those wishing to send messages to the family please visit the Sydney Morning Herald Malcolm Young Memorial website which will be available next week.

The family have asked instead of flowers to send donations to The Salvation Army.

This song can be found as the seventh track on their 1975 Australian release of High Voltage. Written by Bon Scott, Angus Young and Malcolm Young, this song was never released outside Australia, but exists on some rarities bootlegs.

"Love Song" evolved from an older, unrecorded song called "Fell In Love", written by Malcolm Young and the band's original singer Dave Evans. This earlier version of the song had different lyrics, and the finished lyrics as heard on the album were added by Bon Scott.

This song cannot be found on the '74 Jailbreak album, but can be unlocked on AC/DC's website when a remastered copy of '74 Jailbreak is placed in the CD drive. Another notable aspect of this song is not only that it's one of AC/DC's few ballads, but that Malcolm plays lead for most of the song.
