Well, this is just tragic. August Ames, 23, a porn star who received two AVN Awards over her career, was found dead in Camarillo, California, the Ventura County Medical Examiner confirms. Although toxicology tests are being conducted, some friends allegedly believe she may have taken her own life. However, the official cause of her death, which is still being investigated, has not been confirmed. August, who had recently worked on adult TV shows such as Baby Got Boobs and Hot and Mean, was pronounced dead at the scene. Although, according to The Blast, there was reportedly no evidence of foul play. Friends close to August have claimed the late porn star suffered from depression, and that online bullying may have played a part in her passing.
On Dec. 2, August had complained on Twitter about filming a scene with an actor who had done gay porn and refused to do the scene with him. As a result, fans and others slammed her on Twitter for being a “homophobe.” In the wake of her death, a friend of hers, Annika Albright, implied that the recent backlash might have contributed to her death. Annika tweeted, “Omg, I can’t believe she’s dead. You people should have known better than to berate her over her personal thoughts! Shame on all you for beating it into the ground. Online harassment is a real thing & it claimed another life. Someone who I liked & would have even called a friend!”
Time will tell when the exact reason for August’s untimely passing will be announced. In the meantime, our hearts go out to August’s friends and family during this difficult time.

Canadian porn star August Ames was found dead Tuesday in California. She was 23.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the death of Ames, whose real name was Mercedes Grabowski, but declined to give a cause pending notification of family members.
Her death, however, occurred just days after she experienced intense criticism on Twitter for saying she refused to work with men who had also appeared in gay pornography, who she labeled as “crossover” performers.
After posting her statements on Twitter, Ames was hit with a barrage of comments accusing her of anti-gay prejudice. She defended herself, pointing out that she liked women, and said she was merely making a decision about who she has sex with, noting it is "my body, my choice."
She posted her last tweet the next day, saying only "fuck y'all."
Ames' husband, Kevin Moore, told AVN that his wife “was the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me.” He also asked for privacy.
Ames amassed more than 270 film credits since she started performing in 2013, and was a nominee for Female Performer of the Year at the upcoming 2018 AVN Awards in January.
Upon learning of her death, adult entertainers took to social media to express their shock and sorrow.
Fellow performer Kissa Sins tweeted: "You were always there for me when I was feeling sad or sensitive and I’ll always love you. I’m sorry I didn’t do more to help. RIP Auggie."

She didn't kill herself/overdose by trying to medicate herself because of the bullying. She had a problen with depression. Usually it is a number of reasons that would cause someone to do it and then something becomes the final straw. It is not like she was happy but couldn't take the comments. I don't know if her depression was things in her life or a chemical imbalance which can cause you to be depressed for basically no reason. But, I would guess that in that case added stress and negativity would make things worse. It is hard to imagine any female that is involved in porn doesn't have serious issue. It is very unfortunate this happened either way.
Most, if not all these porn stars have serious emotional issues before entering the porn industry, & once in, its multiplies their depression & issues.
The women that have sex with men in porn are physically abused during the filming some times, not like punched in the face, but really hard core sex where the girl is on heavy pain meds during sex to keep her from feeling the pain physically & emotionally.
So I could understand women that like lesbian sex not wanting anything to do with men.
Heavy drug use like meth & opiates are huge in the porn industry, mix it together with escorting on the side, etc......its a combination of disaster mentally. They feel.empty inside, lost souls that are wandering, & things like internet bullying was the last straw for a severely depressed porn star.
We look at her & say, 23, beautiful, she has her whole life ahead, but when your in the depths of crippling depression, some people only see one way out.
