Meh

More Yankees mismanagement. Paying out of their prime players fat contracts based on what they did in the past. Nothing to see here

Sounds like it might be a done deal today . Hope they unload Ellsbury in the deal but he has a no trade clause .

He's 28. Couldn't be more in his prime, with an opt out in 3 years. I've seen worse contracts for MVPs

Happy birthday Aaron Boone. I bet Giardi would like another year there with Stanton.

No player in baseball is worth that money. You can pay a QB or elite player in the NBA that money. Those are the only ones worth it. They win championships. Individual players in baseball are only a small part of the puzzle no matter how good. But.....money isn't an issue in baseball so.....

so true. i would think that they would have learned from all of their past signing boners and the pujols/hamilton deals that moreno failed with. your statement about money not being an issue for some teams rings very true. i still believe that the cardinals are the best managed small market team and their business model never allows them to get in over their heads. boone is getting his xmas present but i am waiting to see what the yanks will have to give up and pray for stanton's good health.

They wont be giving up much . Sounds like Castro and a prospect or two, but not top tier.

These salaries for all of these players in baseball is out of hand, the smaller tier teams have no chance to compete with the rich teams. Its in all sports, but i think the top 2 are baseball and basketball, but i may be wrong as i don't pay attention to the NBA..the way its going it will be no fun to watch baseball anymore

World Series Champs Houston Astros - #18 in salary at the start of 2017

World Series Contenders Cleveland Indians - #17 in salary at the start of 2017

World Series Contenders Arizona Diamondbacks - $26 in salary at the start of 2017

World Series Contenders Minnesota Twins - #22 in salary at the start of 2017

That's 4 of 8 teams competing with lower end salaries. High team salaries don't mean shit.

The Yankees current roster is loaded with younger / home grown kids

Not older free agents

Many on the The Yankees 2017 roster are younger / home grown kids

Not the older overpriced free agents found most years
