Two sources familiar with the injury tell the Associated Press that doctors believe Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in a win over the Rams on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season and playoffs.
Wentz, a favorite in the NFL MVP race, will have an MRI on Monday to confirm the severity of the injury. Both people spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to release the information. Wentz left the stadium on a cart with a brace on his left leg.
"I don't know anything until we evaluate him (Monday)," Eagles coach Doug Pederson said.
Wentz was hurt late in the third quarter of Philadelphia's 43-35 comeback win at Los Angeles . Backup Nick Foles rallied the Eagles (11-2) to a win that secured the NFC East title and put them in first place in the conference with three games remaining.

Source: Eagles QB Carson Wentz feared to have torn ACL.

LOS ANGELES -- The Philadelphia Eagles are concerned that quarterbackCarson Wentz tore his left ACL, sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Manual testing revealed that the ACL was loose. In such cases, the likelihood of a tear is high, which is why the team fears that the ligament is torn.
Wentz was seen walking inside the locker room with a heavy, black brace on his left knee. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI tomorrow in Philadelphia.
Wentz exited the Eagles' 43-35 win against Los Angeles Rams late in the third quarter Sunday and was ruled out.
He came up limping after absorbing multiple hits on a touchdown run that was negated by a holding penalty. Wentz stayed in the game for the remainder of the drive, which he capped with a fourth-down touchdown throw to Alshon Jefferythat gave the Eagles the lead.
Following the series, Wentz went to the trainers tent to be evaluated, and he was taken indoors a short time later.
Nick Foles immediately began practicing snaps with center Jason Kelce on the sideline in anticipation of going in.
Wentz had four touchdowns on the day. He passed Sonny Jurgensen for the most touchdowns in a single season (33) in franchise history, a record that had stood since 1961.
The Eagles clinched the NFC East and a playoff spot with their win.

Eagles clinch NFC East, but Carson Wentz's knee injury big concern.

LOS ANGELES -- The importance of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, and the duel with quarterback Jared Goff, faded late in the third quarter for the Philadelphia Eagles when Carson Wentz left the blue medical tent and slowly walked to the locker room.
Wentz injured his knee and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Eagles are concerned it's an ACL tear. If those fears prove warranted, this season’s outlook, and this franchise’s immediate future, has taken a sudden, drastic turn for the worse. All this despite the Eagles beating the Rams, 43-35, and clinching the NFC East title.
Wentz went charging into traffic in an effort to score a go-ahead touchdown. Linebacker Mark Barron hit him low, in the knee area, and defensive endMorgan Fox rolled over the top of him while he was on the ground. The play, a 2-yard touchdown run, was negated by a hold on right tackle Lane Johnson.
Wentz got up limping, but stayed in, and delivered a fourth-down touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffery to put his Eagles back on top. Wentz was not himself, though, and went right for the trainers table following the play. A few beats later, he started the long walk inside as backup Nick Foles took practice snaps from center Jason Kelce on the sideline.
Foles is a capable backup. He has started in this town before; even threw 27 touchdowns to two interceptions in Chip Kelly’s first year as coach to lead the Eagles to an NFC East title in 2013. But he’s no Carson Wentz.
Wentz was in the midst of one of his best games as a pro when the injury occurred. He had already thrown four touchdown passes and was getting the better of Goff, his training partner leading up to the 2016 NFL draft, where they went No. 1 and No. 2 overall. With that last toss to Jeffery, Wentz passed Sonny Jurgensen for most passing touchdowns by an Eagles quarterback in a single season, toppling a record that had stood since 1961.
Foles performed pretty well, and aChris Long strip sack of Goff led to Jake Elliott’s go-ahead field goal with a touch under four minutes remaining. That proved enough for the Eagles to improve to an NFC-best 11-2. According to ESPN FPI, they have a 97 percent chance of securing a first-round bye. They finish the regular season with a game at the New York Giants next Sunday before returning home for the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys.
And who knows, with home-field advantage and a little luck, this talented roster might be able to make some noise with Wentz out of the lineup. In order to have a chance of making a Super Bowl run, though, they need Wentz at the controls.
His health is the key, and will be for as long as he’s in an Eagles uniform. Sunday might prove to be a big blow to what he and the Eagles have been building.

What do you think the chances are Wentz is ever as quick and elusive he was before injury. IMHO Pederson was responsible for this injury because the team got away from the running game. The OL was breaking down, the defense was wearing out. Wentz took a lot of risks today and was getting hit repeatedly. I have no idea why Pederson got away from running the ball. All I know is those factors all came together that caused Wentz eventual injury. Now with a 9 month recovery most likely he will miss OTA's and training camp.

Have to believe that the whole organization of the Eagles will reach back with great effort and continue the road to the Super Bowl...Could there be a Kap signing? Wouldn’t put it past Rosen...

Lmao.......if Philly signs Kap, I will hit the powerball. There's no way Philly or any other team ever signs that piece of sh*t.

Having Foles as a back up is a good thing.

He's probably the best back up behind Teddy Bridgewater
