Yesterday's Woodbine picks were a bust. A few negative late jock changes doomed a few picks. Very chalky day as winner was one of the top 2 betting choices in 10 of 14 races. That's bad for 14 horse fields. McKnight (Woodbine's answer to Navarro) entered 6 races and won 5 of them.

So here's a funny story that happened today, though it wasn't too funny at the time.
Getting ready to place my first bet of the day in the 1st race (exacta key box) and when I clicked the submit button, I lose my internet wi-fi connection. Exactly at that moment. Hadn't had any issues the previous 6 hours. Now I'm scrambling trying to reset my wi-fi, knowing there is no way to get the bet down now because the field was approaching the gate. By the time I get back online, the race is over and sure enough .... exacta pays $177.
You want to talk about pist ... I was steaming BIG TIME. Now I'm in a dilemna, do I quit for the day and concede the likelyhood that would have been THE hit of day or do I continue and run the risk of playing too loose (because I'm steaming) and dump a ton? Given how bad it went at Woodbine the previous day, I could certainly visualize self-destruction on the horizon.
Well, I talked myself in continuing but betting tighter than normal, expecting losses after a missed opportunity. I had a couple of potential bombs late on the card that I liked, so play ultra tight.
Luckily our posted pick pegged the race 6 exacta for, get this, $170 payout. Talk about taking a deep breath. Finally able to calm down. Finished the day hitting place payout on 50-1 shot. Very glad I was able to keep my wits. In the old days, when not so seasoned, it would have self-destruction time. I would have bet every friggin' pool on the menu and spread plays 'til the cows come home.
