a mind is a terrible thing to waste....go to college
what's the difference? Sounds like it is for guys like Simmons that did not/do not want to go to school. My question is, are there enough guys to make a league? People gonna pay?

I'd go overseas for a year rather than play for free if I was a top 10 prospect.

It probably wouldn't be commercially viable in the US to pay the players that much $. Would be getting salaries closer to the DLeague.

College athletes already don't go to school. I see nothing wrong with it. College sports is already a farm system. Most of the athletes aren't doing the work in real classes.

terrible model for a business though even if people want to play. the nba has stars that help the league for over a decade. college has brands like duke, unc, and Ucla which has a fanbase that shows up regardless of players. cant have a bunch of 1 hit wonders in a league that go pro the next year, thats just stupid. nobody will pay to see it or be a fan of a team since every year is just a springboard to the nba, hopefully. you need fans of a team or stars, this is a league of guys going pro next year and no real desire to win a game since it actually means nothing. stupid but what else is new from the baller family.

That is one of the problems Mob. Even the superstars who make it pro and are filthy rich for a short time and go broke after retiring, usually with stupid decisions. Decisions that could have been avoided with a little education along the way. Plus the percentage of athletes that actually go pro is so small.

Going pro does not guarantee multi millions a year. How many guys are riding the bench making league min? One incident or injury could be the end of a career and now what? no plan B. It is good to chase a dream but putting all your eggs in a basket that provides such a small chance a success is just foolish. Educating oneself should be encouraged and the direction of this league is the opposite of that. This will set black culture back by years.

Lol league minimum is about 50 times higher salary than the median salary. The league minimum salary is 1.5million and being a lottery pick pays much more than that.

8 months at college is completely useless for a top 10 ranked player that wants to go to the NBA.

No plan B? Dude if you're like 25 if you leave the NBA, you can then go back to college. You are aware it is allowed to start school when you aren't a teenager?

People who have a skill wanting to get paid for it, what an epidemic!

I don't know what's more comical

Kaepernick owning a NFL team or this guy running a hoops league.

It's a toss up

Cuban and others in the past have suggested the NBA should just start it's own minor league, let kids go there from HS and then sell the TV rights.

Basically do what minor league baseball does, except it would make a little more $ if you had the guys who normally go to Kentucky, Duke, UNC playing.

the big 3 is going to fail and it has celebrity appearances and former players including some hall of famers. people will lose interest at some point. there is no chance for lavar ball to run any successful league at any point, thats just ridiculous to think. its a bad idea from an idiot with people dumber than him telling him what a genius idea it is.

LOL dude how many players go back to college after going pro? We read about them getting screwed over in business deals, suing managers, filing for BK. You are talking top 10 ranked players. hahaha Lets talk top 60 who get drafted. That is the exception and not even all of them ever pan out in the NBA. Lets look at the 2013 draft class (https://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2013.html) The #1 overall pick couldn't even make it. How many of these dudes are even still in the NBA? How many from the 2nd round even made it 2 years in the league? You are talking about .5% and forgetting about the other 99.5% and those numbers are even more lopsided when we look at who actually makes it past 5 years in the league.

So take a personal finance 101 course on YouTube?

Not sure how spending 6 months at UCLA at 19 years old is making you financially savvy.

And when people talk about guys playing minor league, it's more about the top 10-15 blue chips per year. Obviously someone ranked 50th shouldn't be skipping college to play overseas thinking he is going to land in the NBA. But the best of the best college is pretty overrated for. You're right, I am talking about the .5%.

What do you think those guys who were drafted in the 2013 NBA draft should've done? Stayed in school and not gone to the NBA? If you got a legitimate chance to make it to the NBA then that should obviously be your singular focus. Not trying to get that psych 202 class in.
