depends if you're walking away from a few of top earning years of your life. many people make the most money in their lives in their 50's so working a few of those years can usually be very beneficial to retirement. if that's not the case then, yeah, its a great age to retire

If I had the money I would. I do plan on retiring at 59.5 but that's 18 years away!!

Hell yes it is. I have my wife and I on track to retire at 50. Have to give up some luxuries now (our peers are driving bmws and Mercedes while we roll up in a ford. Approved for a 500k home but living in a 250k one), but we sleep better at night living below our means. And it will all be well worth it if we can retire even in our early 50s

Guy I know is an air traffic controller. They have mandatory retirement by 50. Not a bad gig
