Bizarro world last wk w/SF & CIN playing out of their minds which obviously caught both JAX & DET off-guard. Wk 17 is always a tough one, but I’m going for it based on what I saw last wk. I’m praying for a little luck this wk.

POW 9-7, Teasers 9-7, Overall 42-27-1.

SF -3 ½ is on a 4 gm winning streak since Garoppolo took over & spirits are high both in the front office & locker room. LT Staley has said that it’s fun playing football again & that the locker room has never been closer. Rookie HC Shanahan & rookie GM Lynch are also pleased w/the team’s play to close out the season. Rather than play for draft position, I believe SF will be trying to end the season on a high note, not only to save face but to also not lose the respect of the players. Players should be playing hard because they know this staff will be intact going into next yr & I’m sure they’ll all want to stay onboard a franchise on the rise. On the other side, LAR have locked in the div & will be resting both Goff & Gurley. McVay will also likely rest other key starters & those w/nagging injuries. They know they’ll be playing next wk regardless of this gm’s outcome, so why not give players a day off from the grind of gameday. 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] yr man Sean Mannion will be taking the reins @ QB while RB will be split between Brown, Dunbar & Davis. Although Mannion has a career 50 QBR, he has shown good play in preseason gms & the coaching staff were considering the switch to him if Goff struggled. However, w/Gurley not taking away defensive attention, & possibly key olinemen sitting out or getting limited playing time, I expect this SF “D” to stifle the LA “O” & possibly force TOs. This gm means so much more to SF in a lost season. And it appears that Garoppolo has brought a winning culture to the lowly Niners, not just w/his control of the huddle either. His passing is quick, accurate & to the rt receiver. He even adds some mobility outside the pocket. Hyde & Hoyer diced this LA “D” in their 1[SUP]st[/SUP] matchup this yr, so this should be no different w/”D” starters also likely getting rest & Garoppolo now @ QB.

SF 30
LAR 16
8 Units

GL to all & comments are most welcome.

Honorable Mentions:

1 Unit IND -5 ½: Just a hunch here as IND is the better team @ hm. HOU is simply playing out the season, hoping no more key injuries occur & secure a higher draft pick.

2 Unit Wormy Teaser:

TEN +10
IND +7 ½
MIN Pk
DAL +10

Thanks for analysis. A luxury on this board.
Thank you Unabated. W/all the views I get each wk, I assume someone is reading my writeups so I continue to share my feelings on this fine site.

But, it's always appreciated to see my hard work isn't for naught. Esp considering my crappy record this yr!!

Houston could play for a higher pick as the Browns would love that as they own the Texans pick

Love your GOY on 49ers......with Pagano leaving, Colts will win SU, & should cover the spread!

I would say good luck, but I don't think you will need it this week.

Shoot, I didn't know that. Well, better pix for HOU in 2nd rd & up?? Lol!

Yes my friend, Wk 17 can give indigestion, but like Thanksgiving for me, I tend to be lucky in Wk 17. So I'm going to chance it here w/a GOY. Absolutely the smart thing to do for any player would be to rest & watch the PO teams to help cap the following wk.

Thanks Dexter! If only my record could reflect my capping. But sometimes it's hard to cap dumb coaching or ridiculous mistakes by players. Team motivation can also be a head scratcher a lot of times.

Very awesome to hear TCG. We've both been doing this a long time & I always respect your opinion. Let's hit these!

Wormy I enjoyed reading your analysis every week. I'm a 49er homer by birth and very excited for what the niners bring next year. I was at the Levi stadium watching the jags get exposed. AWESOME.
But getting back to the week 17 niners and rams. I like the pick and have it at +3 early but i might go ahead and play the -4 as well after your read here. A niner win should be easy but who knows? NFL has been full of surprises this year. And im sure a bunch of us are taking the niners this week.
Thanks for all you do wormy
Happy New Year

I suppose so! Lol. I'm always critical of my POW record. We look @ every gm in a NFL slate you would think picking ONE winner out of all of them should be easy? I'm still wanting that elusive 14-3 or maybe even perfect season @ POW!

Thanks again for the kind words, Dex. And happy new year!

Amazingly the %'s on SF plays that I've seen online aren't that bad. So the public seems to be still backing LA.

Thanks for the support buddy. You too have given good contributions to the RX. We should be all here to help one another stick it to the man! In the end, it is us against the house. BOL to you & happy new year!

I love the pick
Hope that's a good sign, Tease. BOL to us, and happy new year to you!
