= Brock Osweller if he goes pro he'll be a backup by year 3 maybe cut by year 5 and then be some type of assistant on usc sideline , he has some potential but really needs 2 more years to develop to have any hope of having a long NFL carrer

Well, he had 356 yards. He was their only option.
I think he is overrated all along but cannot hang tonight's game on him, he was harassed all night. He looked like Sonny Corleone at the toll booth.
IMO he will be a starting NFL QB, maybe a good one, but is not a cinch franchise QB like some have touted him to be... lots of potential and he probably will improve.
Tonight most QBs would have struggled in that spot.

He looked lost....Got bum rushed by college kids....Can you imagine him trying to avoid the speed of NFL players.

This guy needs a lot work.

Let's face it,he stunk up the joint for the most part

Not sure what you were watching? Darnold never gave his team a chance by the countless back breaking mistakes. 2 fumbles inside OSU territory and a pick 6! Protect the damn ball Darnold.

Guys like Darnold stick around in the NFL for a cup of coffee and they're CUT. The turnovers for Darnold are ridiculous.

Plenty of experts are saying he should go back to school for 1 more season.

We'll see what he does

Realize this a decent kid ...but he has no future in the NFL .... in the pocket with any kind of pressure , he's horrible .... Guess that does not say much for the 0-4 in Bowls Pac 10 teams ????

If he sat out that bowl game would he of gone high in the 1st round? Probably cost himself millions with that effort.

Lol.

U guys are tough critics. U realize how banged up his OL was in that game? I was on OSU, and am certainly not a USC fan in any capacity, but my God...have some perspective.

The best QB who ever lived would struggle when he’s put under heavy pressure 48% of his dropbacks (stay I heard at the end of the game plus my eyes lol). Not saying Darnold is good or bad or he should stay or go, but to judge him on last night’s game is a pretty unfair assessment.

He's shown all year that he makes bad decisions and can't take care of the ball. has nothing to do with last night..

Agreed Darnold hugely overrated, will be an NFL bust.
Leinert, Booty, Barkley that school has produced plenty of NFL busts after Carson Palmer.
Look for same song, different verse here.......

That’s true, but it’s pretty clear that a thread started 5 minutes after he got pummeled by OSU is focusing on that game. No one until you has said anything remotely close to, “well, last night’s game just confirmed what we’ve known all year...”

yeah but Rosen was just about the worst...

Flushed from the pocket in 2017Completion rateYards per attemptPasser rating

Rest of NCAA QBs49%6.073.8

Mayfield's stats under pressure were ridiculously good. something like 117 QB rating...if you go by a purely stats-based analysis of the top QBs it was Mayfield in a class by himself and Allen as an almost sure bust. Mayfield is the 4th highest QB projection in last 20 years so it all depends on his attitude

https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2018/qbase-2018

obviously Mayfield is in very good company:

Here are the top 10 prospects since 1997 based on the current formula:
Top QBASE Projections, 1997-2017
PlayerQBASE
Philip Rivers1964
Carson Palmer1916
Donovan McNabb1799
Baker Mayfield1480
Russell Wilson1288
Peyton Manning1279
Marcus Mariota1277
Byron Leftwich1216
Aaron Rodgers1216
Ben Roethlisberger1211
None of this is a guarantee that Mayfield is going to be a star in the NFL especially since the worst franchise in professional sports drafted him

The kid is 20 years old.

He should have stayed in college.

youngest 1st round QB since the AFL/NFL merger but, in his defense, that's some pretty sweet moolah for a kid that can't drink legally:

Total Contract Value: $30,370,490
Annual Contract Value: $7,592,623
Position Ranking: 6/63 at QB
