I'm sure many will say they would have no shot, but they beat a decent Auburn team and they seem to never give up

it would be a game I wouldn't miss watching

IMO they would get destroyed. Their defense is suspect. I don't care how they looked yesterday.

I think we all know that 999 out of a 1000 they don't win the Championship. But...they deserve the shot for that 1 out of a 1000 it happens. Not saying they should have gotten in ahead of Bama.....though I would have liked that

I did not think they could beat Auburn so after that, I think they could hang against anybody

They don't. This stuff is so stupid.

UCF vs Auburn was UCF's Super Bowl and was Auburn's toilet bowl. Auburn one game away from being in the playoff and they have to settle for this?

Wasn't UCF most impressive win all year double overtime against Memphis?

With all these bowls, some teams play as if it is their last football game ever and in UCF case, it likely is and to other teams it is an inconvenience.

If you want to have that argument, these teams like UCF and like Boise State of old would know a few years ahead "hey we may have an all time great team that year in 2017" so you need to schedule at least someone that will be in the top 20 of a power conference. Boise St played in DC against Virginia Tech and won.

Cornell did that a few years ago in college basketball along with other teams like Gonzaga. Cornell knew a few years back it was going to have an all time great Cornell team and scheduled Kansas at Kansas.

some people thought Bama didn't belong there

yep when both teams care it would be one of those games where crossing midfield would be OU 2.5

UCF vs Georgia would have been a fun high scoring game. I would have LOVED to see UCF play bama as I love UCF just as much as I HATE Saban.

Awesome season but not sure if they were CFP worthy. All they did this season is play the teams on their schedule and win. Thats all they could have done. Too bad the teams they beat out of conference didnt have good seasons.

However UCF didnt have any "narrow wins" vs crappy teams. They only played tight games against decent teams this season.

Haters gonna hate

This is the one thing that you can't go by,and what i mean is,who beat who,and then they beat them, every week and every game is different,Alabama/Auburn is a heated game(iron bowl)and you never know who will win,and Bama came in that game limping, but no excuses. Now just cause C.Fla. beat Auburn and Auburn beat Alabama don't mean that C.Fla would beat Alabama. It just don't work that way or we would all be winners at the sportsbook.Different teams play the same team in different ways,Alaabama may prepare for C.Fla. in a different manner than Auburn did, they may have seen areas that could be vunerable that other teams didn't,..but just because they beat one decent team in Auburn, don't expect them to beat or hold their own with another good team

that's why i said small shot

I also think it would be harder, even though Saban is a wizard, I think it wouldn't be a slam dunk.. UCF is a unknown factor as to how to play them
they don't go out there and play the same every game.
Bama plays well against teams they know or maybe even follow a bit. They would really need to watch a lot of tape to figure UCF out.

listen, I understand we are talking about a small program vs. a Sec Team
and I still say the College Playoff program is wrong. even though it has gotten better.

I say give it a shot one time to see what happens....

With Alabama and Georgia winning you will have 2 teams playing for the Championship that both lost to Auburn.
UCF will have gone undefeated 13-0 and have ending the season beating that Auburn team. In that light it's hard
not to consider UCF as #1 if one is inspired by the game they played today. But really this format is the fairest yet
to derive at a national champion in the fairest way.

If it was, as it was in 1984 UCF definitely would have been National Champs. Brigham Young in 1984 was crowned National Champ
going 13-0 without playing one team in the final top 25 ranked teams. The didn't even play in one of the big bowls beating a
6-5 Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl.

After Marl Wilson, Jim McMahon & Steve Young put BYU on the National map in 1984 Young went pro and Robby Bosco
became the QB. Level Edwards sticking up for his new QB stated if we aren't what we were in 83 it will not be because of Bosco.

This year UCF played 3 teams in the top 25 & won all 3. Alabama played 4 teams in the top 25 & won 3. UCF because of their
schedule logically did not deserve the be in the Championship Games, but in a less fair set of circumstances like they had in 84
they would have been the champs.

Of all the big 5 games played on New Years Day this year the most indispensable ball player was Milton of UCF!

they beat the team that ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED the two teams playing for the championship

Hence there's only one reasonable assumption, they might be good enough to beat AL and GA, we'll never know

To suggest they have no chance is kinda silly

It’s about matchups and motivation. They certainly have a shot, but you know that the transitive property doesn’t work in football. I’d give them a 20-25% shot against UGA and 15% against Bama

Yet the elitist CFP committee NEVER put them in the Top 10!! They kept ranking multi loss Mississippi State and Stanford ahead of them for no freaking reason

I didn't arrive at a transitive result, never do that, but I did suggest it should be obvious they can compete based on those results

I'd give them a better chance then you have

in a real game they have less of a chance
