</figure>What’s the best way for an MLB team to celebrate its 50th year in its city? There’s really only way that makes sense — with free tickets.
That’s just what the Oakland Athletics are doing for their 50th year in Oakland. Only their free-ticket idea is enough to fill an entire stadium. The A’s are giving away every single ticket to their April 17 game against the Chicago White Sox. And Wednesday, they announced how anybody can sign up for tickets.
This was part of the team’s announcement:
There should be an ample supply of free tickets, as last season the A’s opened up their upper deck seats, which had been covered in recent years. That gives Oakland Coliseum a capacity of 47,170 these days for baseball games.

The A’s are giving away every single ticket to their April 17 game against the Chicago White Sox. And Wednesday, they announced how anybody can sign up for tickets.
This was part of the team’s announcement:
As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in Oakland, we are pleased to offer free tickets to our game on April 17, 2018. Exactly 50 years prior, on April 17, 1968, the A’s debuted here in Oakland and as an anniversary gift to the city, we are offering free tickets to the game vs the White Sox. Plus, parking is always free on Tuesdays.
Free tickets will be available starting at 8 a.m. Jan. 10 on the A’s website. Season-ticket holders will automatically get free tickets.
There should be an ample supply of free tickets, as last season the A’s opened up their upper deck seats, which had been covered in recent years. That gives Oakland Coliseum a capacity of 47,170 these days for baseball games.
