I'll concentrate on Alabama and let others help out with Georgia. All news/comments are welcomed on
either team.

*Nick Saban is 11-0 vs former assistants in their new head coaching positions. He is 3-0 vs. Jim McElwain
and Derek Dooley, 2-0 vs Will Muschamp and Mark Dantonio and 1-0 vs. Jimbo Fisher.

*Alabama returned to the practice field Wednesday in shells and shorts practicing in the indoor facility.

*Starting right guard Lester Cotton injured in the Clemson game had surgery and is out for Georgia. Senior
JC Hassenauer was working with the first team in Cotton's place. Linebacker Dylan Moses (foot) and tight end
Miller Forristall (knee) were on exercise bikes.

*Outside LB Anternee Jennings underwent surgery this week after being injured in the Clemson game. He
had his best game of the season against the Tigers. Bama was already missing LBs Dylon Moses and Shaun
Dion Hamilton.

*Alabama will be playing in the national championship game for the third year in a row. Players understand
how to deal with outside influences on their time. All new experience for the Georgia players!

I think Moses dressed today from what I have read. Don't know if Patrick will be back for UGA.

Both Alabama and Georgia seem to be evenly matched. Both are running teams who play
tough defense. Take a look:

Total Offense: Ala #27 (450 ypg), Ga #31 (440 ypg)
Scoring Off: Ala #12 (38 ppg), Ga #17 (36 ppg)
Pass Off: Ala #91 (194 ypg), Ga #110 (173 ypg)
Run Off: Ala #10 (256 ypg), Ga #8 (267 ypg)

Total Defense: Ala #1 (252 ypg), Ga #6 (289 ypg)
Scoring Def: Ala #1 (11 ppg), Ga #5 (16 ppg)
Run Def: Ala #1 (92 ypg), Ga #20 (122 ypg)
Pass Def: Ala #3 (161 ypg), Ga #8 (168 ypg)
Sacks: Ala #21 (36), Ga #37 (31)

*One category of note is big plays. Georgia is #8 nationally in 20 yard plays with 88.
Alabama is #1 in allowing the fewest such plays with 37.

*You have to believe this game is going to be a slugfest.

Biggest disappointment from the UGA fan base is the lack of passes thrown to the TEs. They have 3 NFL caliber TE on the roster but Chaney refuses to use them. Bama also has historically had great TEs but seemingly they don't target as much this year. Maybe something the OCs have up their sleeves if passing game is needed.

Hell Albert, I screamed for 3 seasons for Alabama to throw the ball to TE OJ Howard. He was
wasted with his talent in my opinion.

Rookie year with Tampa Bay, he has 6 touchdowns which leads the team and a 16.6 average catch.

Not sure about Fitzpatrick other than he will play.......

He suffered a kidney injury in the first quarter of the Clemson game and
did go to the hospital for a check up once the team got back to Tuscaloosa.

He's our best player so I hope he will be able to play at full speed.

Clover.....I heard on the radio Friday when discussing that either a coach or player said that Minka is the best player at 5 positions on the Bama D. That's about the best compliment that a defensive player could receive.

Looking at this game from a UGA perspective.....i want to see Bo get 15-20 touches.

For what it's worth............

The Sportingnews staff made their picks for tonight's game.
Bill Bender - Ala 21-14
Vinnie Iyer - Ala 27-17
Tadd Haislop - Ala 35-24
John Hoover - Ala 21-7
Al Khateeb - Ala 27-21

ESPN ask 41 of their football staff to pick the winner. 34 picked Bama, 7 choose Dawgs.

Despite playing a much tougher schedule (Georgia is ranked No. 18 in Strength of Schedule while Alabama is only No. 47), theBulldogs’ defense allows a very comparable15.7 points per game to the Crimson Tide’s 11.1. Their averages were 2.5 points closer before Georgia gave up 48 points toOklahoma on Monday. I’m sure Alabama sympathizers will say the Georgia defense was exposed, but I’d counter with the fact thatBama QB Jalen Hurts is no Baker Mayfield and the Tide offense is less likely to roll over the Bulldog defense.
