I am posting this here because busy forum and I had to get this off my chest. I hope the mods allow this and perhaps can get some feedback from the people on here.
The people in this community there is clearly a sense of commrodary and support. Everyone understands what we go through- the highs and he lows. The lucky wins, tough losses, bad beats and everything in between. Outside this community though, that in my experience is the opposite.
i wanted to ask what is your experience when you talk to people about betting to non bettors or "friends" when you have a big play?? I NEVER talk about my bets to my non wagering friends, except for this one occasion that had six months of anticipation behind it.
For me- It was the NCAA CFB game. I shared with a few friends a pic of my betting ticket that I placed back in August for Alabama to win the National Title. Was +300 so $1000 paying $3000. I'm not a high roller so, for me this was the biggest win of my life.
Now perhaps I have shitty friends. They are unhappy with their lives, jobs, not a lot of money, nasty wife or whatever. But I just felt like my experience tended to have a palpable vibe of negativity, even hostility that is masked on surface with phony support. I was getting dick texts at half like, "Down 13 bro. Not looking good" like you don't think I know that? Then when game ends no congrats; a snarky comment about how Georgia should have had an Int and how lucky I was. Followed by a vibe of distancing themselves from contact since. For me it's like, I get it, most people just aren't happy for your success. Human nature I guess? It was a wake up call that these (two) guys really aren't friends and deep down would revel in my loss or any adverse life event for that matter in general, I truly believe.
Can anyone else relate to this? Thank so for taking the time to read. Best regards,
