For all of the talk about the kid missing the tackle, that wasn't the biggest play of the game.

If the Vikings don't stuff New Orleans on 3rd and 1, they kick the game winning FG on the last play of the game. The other stuff never happens.

Was saying the same thing to my brother last night......why run up the middle against one of the best defenses & expect to get the 1st down with all the Vikings stacked up......boot leg & dink it for a 1st down, game over if you make the fg.

Payton called 2 challenges that were not even close, losing 2 time outs, & then this bone headed call on 3rd & 1......also, where were the deep safety's on the sideline pass by Vikings for the winning TD......

Tomlin had the biggest boneheaded calls, but that's for another thread ......

Payton got a pass for the boneheaded play going for it from midfield last week (the int 16 yards downfield helped bail him out) ..... stupidity eventually gets you!

I thought the Aints blew it by not playing to run down the clock before that fateful 1 yd attempt by Kamara. The two previous plays were 4 and 5 yarders where both Ginn and Thomas went out of bounds. Why? With 40 seconds left they had the ball, first down, on Minny's 33. That's field goal range right there for Lutz who was 21/24 in domes this year, coming into the game. Every play from there on should have been an in bounds play BY DESIGN to run clock and force Minny to take time outs and run the clock to 1 second.

I'm spoiled. I'm a Patriots fan. We watch them do this stuff all the time. Never leave your opponent any time. And that plan should take effect on all plays once you are within FG range. Sean Payton and Drew Breeze blew that game as much as Williams. The difference is that they are seasoned vets and should know better.

I said before the game that Minnesota had an edge in coaching. Plays like you stated the week before are just plain boneheaded. To emphasis the point before the Minneapolis Miracle he called timeout to set the defense. No problem with that. But that is the defense you came up with?

Three receivers go right in short, middle and longer range all headed for the sidelines. How can you not have 3 db's and someone deep. Super poor coaching. He is an ass. I wish some player would take him out one day on the sidelines.

Best part was after they kicked the field goal he turned around and taunted the fans with the skol chant. What an idiot. Karma is definitely a bitch.

Well as a Viking fan I was ready to blame the Viking coaching staff. with 1:48 on the clock they had first down at the Saints 40 yard line after Theleins catch. They should have run the ball and ate all the clock kicking the fg as time expired instead they gave the Saints enough time

I wanted them to get deeper into NO territory. I didnt want to have their fate decided by a 50 yard field goal....I have been to that rodeo and it is not fun. Way more entertaining the way it worked out.

Id say blame goes on Payton as well. Too many bad decisions and it caught up.

2 challenges
Playing for the Fg and giving ball back (they have one of the best kick off returners)
calling the timeout right before 3rd down, and from what I heard, it was about not getting a penalty

I think Williams is one hell of a player and he had a pick earlier which got them back into the game. Some fault, sure, he should have tackled him, game over.

But I'd agree with the posters here

The Saints didnt have a replay booth upstairs. Both teams have guy watching the replay on whether to challenge or not but the Saints didnt have one. It was all on instinct that Payton through them. He mentions it in the press conference. Its sad a multibillion dollar business has shit like this go on. Mics not working, the lights going out in the Super Bowl, no IR for some teams in a playoff game etc.

On that 3rd and 1 the Vikings should have been flagged for neutral zone infraction.

Im not bitter because I expected Minnesota to win. I couldnt believe we even had a chance in the game. I believe they will get another chance in the playoffs, but nxt time it will be at Home because we cant win on the road.

Saints were "unlucky". Vikings played well in the first half, but still needed miracle play to get the win.

Payton got the Saints into a position where they would win 98/100. But as the long shot last play hit he gets the blame for loss.
