Should the Vikings be allowed to sleep at home the week of the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl has to be on a level playing field for both teams. The AFC team has to stay in the team designated hotel from the NFL. Just because the Vikings are playing in their home city that shouldn't afford them special privileges. They should be required to stay in the NFC team hotel just like the Eagles will if they make it. It is a distinct advantage to sleep in your own bed at your home rather than sleep in a hotel. The NFC is also considered the road team for this game. This means they have to use the visitor locker room yet the Vikings say they will dress in their own locker room. Not a big thing but psychologically also an advantage. In addition they said they will use their own facilities for training the week of the Super Bowl. As the designated road team that is also not proper. The only advantage that they should be allowed is the fact that they would be playing in their home stadium which will afford Vikings fans to snap up as many Super Bowl tickets as they can on the secondary market. That is out of league control and if it sounds like a Viking home game so be it. Everything else the team has to be treated like every other Super Bowl team the last 51 games.

Wonder if it's good for Min to have their own team in the SB? Wouldn't that cut down on visitors and revenue coming in from out of town people?

They will still have a lot of out of town people. Vikings fans from all over the state, not just the ones that live in Minneapolis.

I would think pretty negligible overall. Might even be a net positive because so many people will go into the city even if they aren't going to the game. Whereas if a team is playing in Miami, the only fans that are around are usually people going to the actual game since people don't travel 2000 miles to be at the superbowl location, they travel that distance to go to the superbowl.

Probably hurt lodging some but the rest I think would be fine.

The city will be full of Viking fans just to be in town for the parties if they make it. I don't think they will lose much because of the Vikings making it. They will lose more because of the out of state people that won't be excited about the possibility of spending a few days in Arctic temperatures in balmy Minneapolis.

When is the last time there was a meaningful amount of rioting after an American sports team won it all? That's kinda a relic from the 80's and 90's. Too many camera phones out there now to be tipping over cars.

Even the Cubs WS win had a pretty tame celebration from what I recall.

2011 Vancouver is the only one that comes to mind. This one could be like that, cause it's once in a life time type thing.
