I usually bet with my house using the "spread" , ... BUT my buddy says that once in a while his house has Money Line betting.

A.) I do not understand moneyline betting , I think that if you choose a team on the moneyline that is -110, then if you bet
$100 and lose, then you would have to pay $110 , .. is this correct ?

B.) But if the moneyline is +110, and I bet $100 , and lose , ... then how much would I have to pay ?

I am asking because, this past Sunday he chose New England on the Money Line to win , and they did , ... and so did he .

My main question is B.) in the aforementioned query.

Thanks folks - I am thinking why not bet on New England on the Moneyline to win the Superbowl. :think2:

ML is based on the odd of winning the game.
Right now you have to lay 220 to win 100 if you take the Pats to win
If you take Eagles you lay 100 to win 180
They show you the numbers in the ML. It is based on 100 dollar bet

exploited17 - I thank you for the ML on the upcoming Super Bowl as it stands now , ..

But the focus of my posting is : If the money line is +110, and I bet $100 , and lose how much would I have to pay ?

you would lose $100 but if you won at +$110 if you bet $100 you would win $110

On B) You only lose $100 but the dog has to win SU.

To answer your question at the bottom you won't win as much betting the fav on moneyline. But you don't have to worry about the spread, that is the trade off. :ok:

Was thinking this morning....So many people are going to bet New England ML it is going to be crazy. The people going around saying there are soo many Eagle backers...sure there will be. But the money that will be wagered on New England ML will be absolutely outrageous.

Probably due to the perception that Brady can come back from any deficit no matter how daunting the task at hand. Plus the 2nd half I can guarantee New England money will be coming no matter the score. AND the fact that the Eagles coaching staff is very underrated and very strong makes me really like their chances of winning outright.

But don't let what I said dissuade you. Go with what you think, just my 2 cents

3pointdog ;

So,if I placed a $500 moneyline (+110) bet on a team ,If I win,I would get $550 , BUT if I lose I would only pay $500 ? Is this correct ? :think2:

Just wondering if playing the EAGLES at the half would make any sense ? ... Just wondering how many times this past season , New England's opponents were beating them at the half ? :think2:

If you win you get your $500 Bet back + $550

If you lose you lose your $500

In the NFL The Fav wins the game but does not cover the spread 17-18% of the time.....
It is quite an anomoly that the Pats have won so many super bowls without covering

All this money line talk reminds me of a good story dating back to when Brady’s first year and he gets to the Super Bowl as a 14 point underdog to the vaunted Rams.

Then owner of the MGM or Mirage, I can’t remember which, Carl Icahn wagered 4.5 million on the Rams Moneyline and of course took a bath though that was probably pizza change that he found in a sofa .

That was the same year that Charles Barkley wagered $1,000,000 on the patriots with the points but his bet was not secured in the cage and Nick Bogdanovich ran the !book. So they sent a runner all over town trying to find Charles and they found him about 20 minutes to go before kick off and when he was politely asked by the runner to come back to the hotel to secure the bet Sir Charles basically said “fuck you” and of course Nick gets the axe but I believe he got hired by Caesar’s the very next week.
