Strange move by Missouri Tigers

Missouri has hired former Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley as their offensive
coordinator. Dooley, who has been the wide receivers coach with the Dallas Cowboys
the past few years has never called plays at any level. When you consider Missouri
has a QB (Drew Lock) who led the nation with 44 touchdown passes last year returning
...this just strikes me as being a strange hire.

Any thoughts.....................

Dooley want's to be a college head coach again. He's hoping that two or three years
as a successful coordinator might open a door for him. He certainly tanked at Tennessee
but Ed Orgeron bombed at Ole Miss and is now LSU's coach...at least for one more year.

I'll make a prediction that Orgeron will be fired after this season. Stirring the BS pot even
more...LSU will go after Lane Kiffin.

"Jim" Dooley coached the Chicago Bears back during the late 1960's and then there was the Legendary Georgia football coach, "Vince" Dooley who is in the Football Coaches Hall of Fame. It will be interesting to see if "Derek" Dooley can keep the
"Dooley" name in the spot-light. He has some tough acts to follow,

Mack, Derek Dooley is Vince Dooley's son.

If I remember correctly, Derek played WR for Virginia where he got a law degree.
He wasn't recruited by his Dad.

Wow !!!! Thanks Clover, you always come to this old man's rescue (LOL); I lost track that Vince Dooley has a son, Darek, that is now coaching.

I know you are a hard-core College Football fan and your "lean" favors the Crimson Tide (ha); With that said, do you take a look at the Super Bowl like most red-blooded sports enthusiasts do ? We both know professional football (the NFL) is a different mix than college but they play with the same type ball and the playing field is 100 yards long.

Right you are sir. Bill just seemed to be overshadowed by his brother who spent 25 years at Georgia.

Mack, you are right about my love for college football. I also love high school ball and support our local teams anyway
I can. As far as the NFL, haven't had much interest this season. I entered the RX NFL contest and turned it over to
my nephew. Because its the SB, I will watch the entire game for a first this season.

My personal take is this will be a pretty good game. However, no way in hell will I bet against the best QB in Super
Bowl history against a backup quarterback. My $3 dollars will be on NE. After all, teams wearing white jerseys have
won 12 of the last 13 SBs. Guess who's wearing white?

Warning Mack...I haven't done well in SBs the past 5 years........Ha!

Well the SEC is greater than ACC correct? HaHa

Well O7, I'm a strong advocate of SEC football, but saying that, the ACC has made great strides
as a football conference and not just basketball. Some damn good coaches in ACC football.

Going against the grain with a prediction: FSU will struggle to win half their games this season.
Noles new coach won't last 4 years. I believe is was a terrible hire.

I couldn't agree more....FSU just seems to have lost that "it" factor...with QB going down and then Jimbo jumping ship(who could blame him!) they just dont seem to have it going on in Tallahassee right now.

OK Mack....who do you favor in the SB my friend since you brought the game up.

Also, welcome any others predictions from CFB guys.

Mack, I'm on record with Brady. IF you go for Philly...we'll bet on a good charity of your choice.

Missouri still hasn't recovered from when coach Gary Pinkel let the blacks on the football team run/ruin
the program. The school lost its president, athletic director and thousands of students for Pinkel's sorry
actions. When the inmates run the asylum you get serious problems. Pinkel didn't have the guts to
take charge of his football team and the university suffered badly.

All of today's SEC schools located West of the Mississippi River are driven by a different culture and historical background. Mizzou's roots were nurtured within geographical parameters of the Big 12 Conference and Arkansas and Texas A&M the old Southwest Conference. LSU's lean is toward the traditional South and their pedigree is definitely SEC. All this may seem irrelevant today but "genetic roots" linger for a long time.

Baton Rouge (LSU) is not west of the Mississippi River.

I guess I better take a refresher course in Geography; You are right, Baton Rouge is located (East)of the Mississippi River; This does, however depict (suggest) that LSU is aligned with the founding boundaries of the SEC (geographically and culturally speaking).

I agree w/ that. Pinkel is a coward.

Odom did a fantastic job w/ that team last year. He did take advantage of two piece of shit coaches: Jim McElwain and Butch Jones. So it won't be that easy again. But he was about to get his ass run out of town w/ the early blowouts. He recovered nicely. Losing his OC to UCF hurt....and I think he just made a terrible hire. Dooley will obviously try to run a pro-style offense and has the best QB in the SEC on this roster, so it may look good - for a year. I'm surprised Odom made this hire (and they're paying Dooley nicely).
