Why can't Les Miles get a job?

The former LSU coach was 114-34 at the school. He won a NC and two SEC titles and
never won less than eight games in a season. Yet, Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, Houston,
Minnesota, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon St., Purdue, Tennessee and Western Michigan
all looked the other way. Missed opportunities for Miles.

Miles is 64 years old and is owed $9.6 million by LSU yet he's made it clear he wants
to coach football again. For a guy with a proven record, I believe he should get another
opportunity.

Would you give him that chance if you were an AD?

it's pretty clear to me he's been blacklisted, temporarily or permanently. You are right though. He made it abundantly clear on multiple interviews in Oct-Nov he was ready to return to coaching and looking for the right opportunity

Yet he was never ever linked to any of those jobs above.

don't think he was blacklisted I think he's talking out of the side of his mouth when he says he is desperate to coach again. Few times in life can you collect $10M by not working and that money dissolves the second he takes a coaching job. I think he sees this hiatus through then comes back as either HC or an average power-5 program or DC of a major power-5 program

125k/mo for 6.5 years? sign me up

are we sure his buyout from LSU expires if he takes a job elsewhere? Sure didn't affect Chip Kelly, who has three teams paying him now.

Is he allowed to take consulting jobs, analyst jobs, etc and still get paid 125k/mo or does he only have to give $$ back if he takes a coaching job?

Another former head coach who desperately wants to get back in coaching is Ole Miss'
Hugh Freeze.

I'm hearing strong rumors that Saban will add him to the staff in some capacity. Everyone
has been tight lipped since Freeze met with Saban in Tuscaloosa a few days back.

I'm a little surprised at the blacklisted label. Why would ole Les be blacklisted? The man has had only one
losing season as a head coach and that was his first year at Oklahoma State where he went 4-7. Personally,
I think Arkansas missed the boat not talking to Miles, especially with his recruiting ties in Louisiana and Texas.

feel free to come up with another label after there were 20 head coaching jobs available and none of them pursued Les Miles. Who had taken time in Oct-Nov to publicly campaign to get his name in the hat. And no one ever talked about him or interviewed him.

Because the guy was an awful coach. Look at some of his teams he had and could not win with.... The guy is known to ruin quarterbacks, can't manage within a game to save his life, forgets football games are even timed, and so on. People want to point to his recruiting abilities, BS, LSU probably has one of the top 5 biggest pay rolls in college (for team players). Guy is in. the midst of one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the nation as well. Guy had first round talent all over the offensive side of the ball a few years ago with Odell and Landry and still had issues moving the ball.

I have read that a few teams have reached out, but he declined because they have artificial turf. Apparently he likes to eat grass.

The National media ate LSU's ass alive for firing Les Miles, calling him a great coach. Now, none of them are willing to admit they were wrong all along.

Here's the truth of it. Les Miles was a good coach until January of 2012 when he had to entertain the NCAA's nonsense by playing Alabama for second time in the National Championship game. In the weeks leading to that game, LSU gave Miles a contact extension and an enormous buy-out clause ......based on the performance of an undefeated season and a national #1 ranking. After that loss, Miles became lazy and predictable for the next four seasons. That laziness showed in his gameplans and in his unwillingness to expand his offense.

He should have been fired in 2014.

+1 knowing bucks is an Ohio State fan.

I personally don't give a rats ass about the Big Ten but Harbaugh does project a loose screw.

Pete, you have to know I'm a Bama guy and not too concerned about LSU. I give you respect because you know/study/love Tiger
football just like I do Alabama. Miles was 10-3 in 2013. He was 8-5 in 2014. 9-3 in 2015 then after I believe 4 games (2-2) in
2016 was fired.

Being honest my friend...do you believe the current coaching staff will do any better? I don't.
fired.
