Yes, I think offshore books & Vegas books have been living high on the hog for way too long off of sports betting.......time to pay the piper. NBA commissioner says he wants 1% of every bet placed, & I concur with his sentiments.

Then again, sports would not be as popular as they are now a days w/o gambling......so they both need each other. America is finally waking up to the legalization in sports betting, while the UK legalized betting in 1962, that's freaking 57 years ago.......like WTF were we doing? Our politicians had their heads up their asses, that's what.

I said yes to this a long time ago. What I wonder is why only the NBA commish has come out with this public statement. Where is the NFL and MLB. The college situation seems more complicated, but could have some advanced formula.

NFL has a big fat ego & don't want to admit they've been wrong about betting......they don't want to admit they're wrong about kneeling, so you can imagine. Once PASPA is overturned, NHL & MLB will follow the NBA & NFL will have to come onboard, their ratings have declined, & they know betting on sports goes hand in hand with their product.

Either jump on board, or risk losing a lot of money & fans.

No - I think they should only generate a piece of the pie from in stadium... so if they betting kiosk or in stadium app...

But they shouldn't get a piece, certainly not anywhere that the 1% that the NBA is wanting.

Average hold percentage ( profits from total action) is 5% for sportsbooks. that's 1/5th of their profits, during a normal winning season.

Plus they already generate revenue from TV deals which we all know gamblers influence greatly. if they get too greedy, this will never work. which is fine by me lol

No, especially considering that over the years it has been built without their support now they want a cut. An industry created with complete hatred from the league and now they turn around put their hand around the industry and hold their hand out.

I think the 1% is off of profits, not off of all bets. So it is basically 1% of the 5% hold.

If they are taking 1% of all bets then that implies they have a stake in the action of individual games and the outcomes

wrong...if they take 1% of bets they have no interest in who wins or looses...1% of proifits then they want those 1 mil bets t be on the wrong side

the leagues dont realize that they wouldnt be half the size they are without gambling. they think its because of how great the sport is. sports gambling helps drive each league in existence yet since they dont get a cut they turn their back on it. look at boxing, how the fuck does floyd mayweather get 250 million for a fight...its not because people give a shit about boxing. its because people all around the world gamble on it. people wouldnt buy the paperviews to watch him dance, they buy it to watch cause they got a grand on it. if you could actually eliminate gambling on the nfl the players wouldnt be making half of what they make.

.1% of the take just to get it moving along but fundamentally I’m 100% against it but you gotta play politics sometimes.

The 1% thing is absurd

Will the sportsbooks get 1% of the tv contracts for increased ratings from television when the ratings go up if this becomes 100% legal?
