Is any one browser safer than another?

I see the issue of Virus protection talked about... but is Microsoft's Edge browser safer than Chrome or any others?

I don't think any of them are much safer than the others at this point. One thing to keep in mind though, Firefox and Chrome update automatically to install security patches.
Edge only updates when Windows updates, so updates don't come as quickly.

I don't know, and don't own an Apple computer, but I see their browser , via a google search, is Safari.... I wonder if they might be just slightly safer. Probably not.

Bought a new laptop the other day ...when I took it to the company IT guy to install my remote desk top short cut he immediately deleted EDGE - Said it was unsecure.

Interesting thing he said was Windows Defender was good enough virus protection, just run checks and updates regularly. Did not need a third party Virus protection.

I use IE for work - Chrome - for personal stuff and Firefox for sports ahem sites

He's right about Windows Defender, being good...BUT and a big one if your computer is on a Network, then best to have an extra layer of protection, is what I was told.
