Ho hum. What an awful SB. I think this might be the least hyped SB in my memory since BAL/SF in the Harbaugh Bowl. Two upstart teams in JAX & MIN almost made an intriguing SB matchup, but instead we’re getting Brady again, this time against Nick Foles. PHI’s “D” is very good, so I’m interested in how they do against NE, but aside from that I didn’t really care who wins because both fan bases are generally obnoxious & I don’t care for either QB. I love the job Doug Pederson has done however, so as you see below I’ll be rooting for the Eagles.

Playoffs POW 0-2-1, Teasers 1-1, Overall 3-7-1.

PHI +4 ½ has done an incredible job this season on dealing w/injuries to starters as well as evolving w/personnel & scheme. Jay Ajayi has slowly worked his way into more plays while Blount has come in late in the gm to help finish off teams. PHI’s oline has been terrific recently offering great protection to Foles & opening holes for the run gm. Even better has been PHI’s deep dline, which I feel will be the difference in this gm. If PHI can continue to get pressure (avg 41% w/out blitzing) on the QB throughout the gm, PHI should have this one in the bag. But if they start to breakdown & allow Brady to throw short to his talented WRs & RBs, NE will move the ball. But watching how disciplined PHI was in the secondary & LB (keeping the ball in front of them @ all times) I feel YAC should be limited for NE. As for the pressure of the moment, I think that nervousness went away following their win against ATL. There were big nerves in that gm, esp for their “O”, but against the best “D” in the league PHI’s oline & Foles looked highly confident. Plus I have big faith in Pederson & his coaching staff to not overthink the gm & allow the strengths of their players to manage the gm, but still have enough wrinkles to avoid being predictable. Finally the spread is a fantastic #, outside of being 7 ½.

PHI 27
NE 24
5 Units
1 Unit ML +160

It has been such a fun season. I know I got cold in POs, but I hope I was able to help a handful of folks this past yr.

I haven’t seen props pop up yet, so I’ll likely play some & post if I have time.

GL to all & comments are most welcome.

Wormy,BOL on your Super Bowl pick as my heart says Eagles but too much love for them as all I hear is Eagles picks and Nick Foles scares me on Sunday. My head says this is the last hurrah for Bill and Tom and go out in style.I am not betting on the game but if the Eagles do win I see Ajayi having a big day for them IMO.

BOL Wormey dawg! cheersgif
What's up CW! Let's win dat football money!!!

Good Luck
How's it going Johnny? All I ask for is a tiny, teensy PHI win. Is that too much to ask?

Always the honest man, Gravy Train. There's been so many times that I've gone against my gut & went w/NE & lost (including very recently vs JAX). So I told myself, what the heck?

I think Ajayi has a similar performance as the ATL backs in last yr's SB. But if PHI doesn't adjust in 2nd half, regardless of situation, then they will likely lose. Belicheat is a 2nd half wizard. Anyway, like most bets, it's a coin flip! So I hope for the best & see if I can end the yr a winner. BOL w/whatever you choose to play!

Thanks Powerz! Same to you buddy.

Let's fricken hit this, CASH!! I'm tired of losing in POs!! Lol.

Wormy...it took you awhile after drinking that Viking Grape Kool-Aid but unlike many whom lack cojones and will cry Vikings were burnt out after their miracle win vs. NO at least you turned the page and see the light. Zimmer and his teams do not just burn out at that stage but were thoroughly outplayed in every aspect and on both sides of the L.O.S.

Philly gave up 10 pts. vs. ATL on two careless turnovers or else shut them out. Last week their secondary botched a signal or they shut out the Vi-Queens. Even all that notwithstanding, the last team who gave up 10 or less points in 4 STRAIGHT GAMES right before the SB and the only team to do that were the 2000 RAVENS with a very pedestrian QB named one Trent Dilfer and they proceeded to wax the New York G-men 34-7.

If there was ever a team who can do what the Coughlin's Giants did TWICE with the inferior Manning behind center and a Ravens squad who once jumped out to a 24-0 lead in the 1st Q. vs. Brady and CO. in post-season it is this version of the Philly Eagles. All we hear is the usual diatribe about BB and Brady but few people truly know what this coaching troika of Pederson, Reich and Schwartz bring to the table!!

Tougher D-front, O-line, superior 3 -headed running mansta!!! and a team built to do what others could not and to do it for 4 ++Q. is what these boys bring and an incredible belief system where every man is held accountable to one another...(just keep Foles upright and healthy and we should be fine). He can play West Coast offense just like Brady keeping the ball out of the hands of Butler and McCourty the same way Brady will run his slants, cross patterns and outlet passes playing keep away from Jenkins, Robinson, Darby and Mills.

This team may play the underdog card but they know they can play with and beat these guys. (Plus they match up much better statistically than even the ATL and SEA teams NE last beat on freak circumstances)

Pretty good stuff, XFL. I will say this tho about MIN gm, that pick-6 by Keenum killed the gm for MIN. They were already up 7-0 & were driving to go up another score until that happened. And it was a small bump of the arm that led to that pick. As you know, momentum is everything & PHI went on a landslide after that while MIN folded like a poker player w/a 2-7 off-suit. But PHI is a great team, which is what is needed to beat Belicheat. PHI also relishes the underdog role, so that only helps. Hope we hit this my friend.

Props:

½ Unit James White Over 10 ½ rushing yards.
1 Unit James White Over 3 ½ receptions: IMO White was the SB MVP last yr as he took the team on his back (hands & legs too) & secured the tie to get into OT then run it in for the gm winner. Not sure why Belicheat went to Lewis this yr after seeing that, but I’m sure in crunch time he will remember last yr & go to his workhorse White.

Thanks Gravy! It is time for me to go into my RX hibernation. Thanks for all the kind words & great advice over the season. Fall can't come soon enough! :toast:

To the rest of the RX, have a great offseason. It can be stressful sometimes coming up w/the POW & prepping these writeups because I want to help people win or at least get educated on team info. I really do want all comments, because talking football is what I enjoy most about posting here. There's a lot of smart folks here, so even if they have counter pts to offer, I'm all for it.
