Didn't play a single down on defense, after playing 98% of them during the season. That's weird

Belichick called it a "football decision", Butler said "I guess they didn't think I was playing good". Nobody called it a disciplinary matter

That's concerning for me, and that may be an indication Butler is gone next year. There are also reports other players in the locker room are not happy about it either.

Of course, that's the type of stuff that happens after you lose in the SB.

I don't think Butler, an unrestricted free agent now, will be coming back. But I also think he could have helped yesterday. I know he wouldn't have hurt that defensive performance. Butler makes one on one tackles on those crossing patterns, and the Patriots didn't do that very well last night

I hope that's true, then I support Belichick's decision. It's how he coaches, players have to understand he doesn't fuck around. If he starts making exceptions, then his words get lost

But I don't think it was a disciplinary matter, everyone involved is saying otherwise. I think it's something more fucked up than that

Yeah, I thought that it was weird too. Something went down. They mentioned he wasnt playing that one time with no explination and that was it. Im sure itll come out soon.

When you lose it is " a grudge from Bellichick.

I'm 1000% behind Belichick all the time, wouldn't change one thing about the man

But I could wonder why a man playing 98% of the defensive plays didn't play 1 defensive play. something unusual about that

I just watched the highlights and how many fucking plays did you have one Eagles receiver surrounded by 3 Patriots.... and the guy made the catch every time.

Shame he didn't play. He couldn't of done worse than that shitshow on defense we say yesterday.

To miss the entire game I figured he had to have done something pretty bad, but if that isn’t the case that’s a bizarre decision. He could’ve changed the entire game.

Not to mention the rest of the team finding out 1 of their best defensive players is out right before the Super Bowl probably had an impact on their performance.

Yeah it isn’t anything like that. He played zero snaps and they were getting shredded on D all game. The special teamer that replaced him was getting torched.

Judging by all the quotes it doesn’t sound like he did anything that bad but who knows.

Butler must have done something to piss Bellichick off off. Bill being Bill. It has worked for a long time. It was real close to working again yesterday. I am guessing neither Butler or the guy who replaced him will be residing in Massachusetts next fall. I had Butler +5093 to win MVP. That was close.

He would have got beaten like a drum like the rest of them honestly. People saying he would have been the difference between winning and losing, very funny but lets be serious.

Butler can chase that's about it. He would have been chasing the receivers after the catch. Maybe would have made some tackles that the other corners missed. But winning and losing nah eagles would have won regardless.

Hes very good, having good players helps your chances to win. Especially when his replacement was terrible.

They lost by the slimmest of margins.
