I told people in Indy to not be surprised if this is some elaborate scheme designed by the Patriots to fuck the Colts over once again. Act and tell everyone like its a done deal, don't sign a contract and then leave the Colts with some bum black head coach.

McDaniels can have his pick of a new head coaching gig every year so he doesnt care.

Punishment should be putting forced resettlement of 2,000,000 of Detroits finest living in Boston and amputation of right arm

Scheffeter reporting:

In the past 48 hours, Patriots owner Robert Kraft began talking with Josh McDaniels and ultimately wound up sweetening his contract, helping to entice him to remain in New England, per sources. Bill Belichick has his OC back.

Robert Kraft hates the Colts as much as I dislike Kraft. A lot. Was going to prevent him from going there if he could help it.

That's all this means imo. Has little to do with Belichick.

Maybe not next season, but soon. That would be the ONLY reason McDaniels stays.

Why would it be an assumption the Patriots want him to take over when BB leaves? Personally, I don't think he's head coach material.

Coach in waiting, maybe 2 to 5 years

In the meantime, he gets paid

And I doubt Belichick is walking out on a losing note

Why? Because Belicheck is getting old, McDaniels has a history w/ the Pats organization, he has previous head coaching experience, he has several NFL teams wanting him annually to be their head coach. Should I go on? You - personally - don't think he's head coaching material....and yet, several NFL teams do. So, there you have it. And if Belicheck does retire, who would be a good candidate to replace him? It seems staying in-house - i.e. why fix something that's not broken - makes perfect sense. There are other Belicheck guys out there, but McDaniels is as good a pick as any of them.

There are only 670k people living in Detroit so that might not be a punishment that is doable.

Should you go on? Yes, he sucked as an NFL head coach and thought Tebow was an NFL starter. What leads you to believe he'll be good somewhere else? Several teams want him? Who are the several teams?

The NBA and NFL always do this. They keep hiring guys with previous head coaching experience thinking they'll be good and they end up sucking.

Belichick was fired from his 1st job

Experience is the world's greatest teacher, and people learn from their mistakes
