A positive gesture by an NYPD precinct commander went sideways when she used the hashtag #blacklivesmatter in an official tweet — and she deleted it amid furious pushback.

Deputy Inspector Janice Holmes of the 100th Precinct in Rockaway, Queens, tweeted a photo of late African-American heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson from her NYPD account Thursday afternoon.

The tweet, commemorating Black History Month, elicited a storm of criticism from cops throughout the department, and it was later taken down.

“How can a precinct commander lead people when she aligns herself with a group that is known to hate law enforcement and wishes police officers dead?” one police source said.

“She’s making a political statement on a job Web site. Let’s see what the police commissioner does now. If they don’t take action, then I guess the police commissioner and the mayor condone this.”

An NYPD spokesperson said the department is “currently reviewing the twitter account of the 100th precinct.”

Holmes, the first black commander of her precinct, is one of four sisters who serve with the department.

This will be the end of her career, I hope. She just lost all the respect of everyone in her precinct. How can she even walk in the door.

I love how much Black history month is promoted but it ends at "February is black history month"

Why don't I hear about all of the good in the history of blacks?

What about black inventors?

Possitive contributions maybe?

Wealthy blacks that have used their mind to create wealth? Rappers and althletes don't count

Since we are celebrating all of these accomplishments by blacks in the month of February, shouldnt we be hearing about them?

This seems to be a case of someone using social media without knowing exactly how to use the tool. She probably meant well but needs some help understanding the do's and don'ts. I hope her career doesn't end because of a mistake like this.
